Slovenia

The homeland of my maternal grandparents.

This beautiful little Alpine country is one of Europe's best kept secrets. Unspoiled by touritst, with some of the worlds most friendly people, beautiful spas, and fine old world hotels and resorts, anyone will find this a most restful and interesting place to visit any time of the year . They are quite friendly to 'Americans', and you will feel most welcome in almost any place you choose to visit. English is spoken in most cities and by much of the hotel staff.

The Slovene countryside just after entering from Austria. It's just as green as Ireland.

Lake Bled. This beautiful Alpine lake near the middle of the country has an island in the middle upon which is a beautiful, fully restored church. The American Ambassador to Slovenia,Ambassador Jackovich, was married in that church just a couple of years ago.
