1999
23 July-I just returned from a successful fishing
trip to the Feather River at Oroville and got some good photos. I
just got a digital camera so it should be easy to load the photos onto
this page. Will add pictures as I get more trips in.
Hope to get up to the Feather at least twice a month for Aug, Sep. and
Oct. The season closes on the Feather on the 15th of Oct this year.
Daily and possession limit is still 2.

still taste good.

10-12 August
The second trip to the Feather River. Did not take the Motorhome
this time. Gas is getting to be too expensive. I need a fishing
partner to go with me to share expenses. There were a lot of fish
caught this week. I hooked up on several, but only landed one, a
14 pounder.

Only one fish this trip A 14 pounder |
The
"Line-up" A bit crowded, but it can be fun.

A typical day at the "beach" area. The White Water at the
center left is the flow from the outlet.

The "Bluff" area.
Bring a chair and get comfortable.

24-26 Aug
Was going to take the Motor Home up this time and park it at a friends'
place but had a problem. See my tale of woe in the 1999 travels section.
Finally found a fishing partner and we went up in Glenns' PU. Fishing
was good, but my luck is getting bad. We both had a lot of hook-ups
but could not land any. My terminal rigs keep breaking or the snap
swivel breaks open. Guess I have to change my methods. We left
Tahoe about noon tuesday and got up to the fishing area about 4 PM.
Got a couple of hours fishing and went into town for supper. Fished
all day Wed and Thurs till noon.
14-26 Sept
Finally got the MH up to Oroville. Left home at 0800 and got in
at noon. Fishing is still great, but I only brought one fish home.

 |
I found a better place to park for camping. This
is off to the side of the main parking area and a little quieter. |
Another lucky fisherman. A nice 16 pounder. |
21-29 Sep
Read the full tale of this period on the 1999 Travels page under RVing.
Arrived at Oroville on the 21st and did a little fishing and got a nice
22# Salmon. Called home and found out I had an opportunity to go
up to Big Bar to work on a fire there. Got back to Oroville on the
28th and after a good nites sleep, did a little fishing before heading
home.

11-15 Oct.
This was the last week of the Salmon season on the Feather so I figured
I should go up for the entire week. Finally got a fishing buddy,
Al Pierson, to go with me. We left at 0800 Monday and drove up in
Al's pickup. Got to Oroville about 1200 and picked up the MH.
Drove over to the Afterbay area and got all set up. We were fishing
by 2PM.
Fishing was slow all week but I did manage to get two , a 12# on Tuesday
and a 14# on Thursday. Al was not so lucky. The area is full
of snags and Al found them all. It seems like every other cast he
would get hung up and lose his rig. By Wednesday he was so frustrated
he decided to call it quits and head back to Tahoe. He was going
to leave early any how as he had to get back in time to pick up some relatives
at the airport in Sacramento on Thursday. Thursday was a little better
fishing and I got my 2nd fish in the morning so I was able to relax the
rest of the day. Since I was going to drive the MH back to Tahoe
on Friday I got most everything loaded up and visited with some of the
other fishermen. I slept late Friday, and finished loading all my
gear and left around 0930. Got back to Tahoe about 1PM.

The last fish of the season. Do not know why the one fish appears
so black. It was the same color as the other one. Maybe it
is in the shadow of the chair. |
