Thursday August 30th. Pouring floors now. Some of the Kenyan guys learn serious
mixing technique.

Saturday September 1st. Progress on the well digging. The 2 man team consists of
this (boss?) man at the top...

and this more humble fella down below. About 15 feet (5m) deep at this stage. The
target depth was about 100 feet, as the water table was reckoned to be about 60
feet usually.

Saturday September 1st is celebration day! And these guys are set to enjoy
the occasion. The Glory Worship Centre church came with PA (what? no electricity?),
childrens choir, youth choir and supporters to make a joyfull noise. Fortunately
by hiding the generator on the far side of the office/house we could still hear
the music.
|

Even Kenyan TV (KBC) were there in force, as there were government officials to
film.
|

Matt generously helped the Minister for Children's Affairs lay the "foundation
stone" for posterity.
|

A newly created floor made a stage for speeches to be made by many enthusiastic
dignitaries. Here, Chege excells himself. Esther Kiarie and Matt Barrow look on,
with the regional governor, children's minister, police chief and a few other
local pastors.
Afterwards seven of the first workers went to the airport for the return to the
UK. Now we were down to 8 from the UK.
|

Sunday September 2nd. A restful day involved a visit to the Glory Worship Centre
in an upstairs Nairobi office. The choir performed some lively songs.
|

Tuesday September 4th. With most of the floors poured now it was time to start on
the second main wall, a straightforward task for our Ugandan team.
|

Mike and Dennis were making great progress on the front wall, despite some
irregularities in the block sizes.
