So you want to know more about me? Well, the first thing I will do is not put a picture on this page - I'm sure you've seen enough of my ugly mug already on my other pages. It's not any better when I am out of camo than when I am in it.
I can first recall fishing at about age 9-10 with my step-dad, and began hunting at about age 15. I will say that I wish my folks had enrolled me in a hunter safety course back then, cause it would have made me a safer hunter. When I think about some of the DUMB stuff I used to do, I shudder. Thankfully, I learned the errors I was making and corrected them.
I was also quite a camping fan years ago, and still do occasionally, but lately I find crowded camp grounds a detraction. Since we bought our acreage years ago, we have more peace and quiet at home than we do when we "get away from it all".
Right now, my "shop" is a room in my basement. I have hopes of one day moving in to a seperate building on my acreage, but that will depend on money. The main reasons my tools are in the basement are:
1) Security for my tools
2) Warm in the winter
3) Cool in the summer (and de-humidified)
4) Running water
My agriculture interest comes from living in a agricultural area. My neighbors are farmers, as are some of my relatives. I have at various times driven tractor (various tillage operations), made fence, picked rocks, hauled smelly brown stuff, raised my own critters (steers*, market hogs*, and chickens), baled hay. In additon, my wife and I have several large gardens, numerous fruit trees, and a assortment of raspberry plants.
*Someday, I may put to "pen" (well, keyboard then) a couple of the adventures I've had raising critters.
My computer inventory consists of the following machines:
1) My newest computer - built by MTI MicroSystems in Rochester Mn, has a 2.1Ghz Intel Celeron, 256M memory, a 40G hardrive, 6 USB ports, and all the other goodies. My poor old IBM 2137-E24 Aptiva was the victim of a lightening strike.
2) A Dell Latitude (laptop) with a 1Ghz Pentium III, 256M, a 40G harddrive, and runs Windows XP.
3) A no-name clone, heavily upgraded (AMD K6-233MMX, 48M, 3G harddrive)- the case which encloses this gear once housed a 486-50 w/ 4M (seems like eons ago). This machine had gone to school at UW-RF in Wisconsin for 5 years, and has now come home.
Someday, I may get ambitious and build pages about these topics as well.
My profession is that of a mainframe systems programmer. My employeer has three IBM mainframes, two Z-series 2064 machines. The 2064's run Z/OS 1.5.
For all you Garage Logic fans, I have a C.I. of 45 - Yeah, I know it should be higher. My biggest problem with attaining a quality C.I. is that while I have a good assortment of engines, there are more 1 lung'ers than multi-lung. To claim ownership of a "quality" C.I., it should be equal to the owners age (years).
