Brian's Beautiful Buck!

My wife's brother Brian took a gorgegous buck on Saturday morning, of our 4A opener, at about 10.30. We were making the "Big One", a drive which is quite complex due to the varied terrain, and shear size of the area. Brian elected to be a stander, and chose the 'North End', a stand on a narrow strip of land which seperates two large cattail swamps. The North End has been an excellant stand over the years.

I was one of the closest drivers to Brian when he shot. Since he only took the one shot, we were fairly certain whatever he shot at was down. My path thru the woods took me right to Brian's stand position, and naturally, the question "What did you shoot at?" was voiced. Brian replied "A spike buck.". That was some spike buck he got - like 9 spikes....

Brian and his buck. I must have moved a bit as I snapped the shutter on my camera, as I chopped off the deer's nose. This would have been a great picture had I framed it properly.

Another shot of Brian with his deer, this one from farther away. The deer is laying right where it fell, as Brian had not yet field dressed the deer, anticipating a photo session. He wanted the deer to be as clean as possible (minimum amount of blood).

A view of the buck looking down at the head.

The pictures which follow I took with Brian's camera.

Beautiful head-on view.

Brian and his trusty 870.....

Nice profile view of the buck.

All by its lonesome....

This picture was taken late Sunday afternoon after we had finished our hunt. Brian is a looking like a happy camper!
