This page is "about" Melmac, a friend I have in the "Show Me" state, Missouri. I met Mel via the web, specificly the rec.hunting news group.
He, a turkey hunter looking for some information, and me, a new turkey hunter who happened to have it. The rest, as they say, is history.
Melmac lives in South-west Missouri, near Truman Lake, which is formed by the the Harry S. Truman dam on the Osage river. If you want to learn more about this area, hit the TrumanInfoGuide site. It has all sort of information about the dam, the lakes, fishing, etc. We (myself, my wife and son Alex) were able to visit him and his family in June of 1999, and we found Missouri quite pretty.
Melmac was up here to ice fish with me the winter of 1999 (Feb.). The sunfish were biting, and we really got into them. In the two days of fishing we had, we limited both days.
I want to see some pictures....
While on Christmas break from his job as a teacher, Melmac went coyote hunting and got another first - his first coyote.
Melmac had himself a good deer season, as he filled all three of his Missouri tags. He filled two of them during the regulars firearms season, one on each weekend, and then during the muzzleloader season in December, he took his first muzzleloader deer. All of thease deer were doe's.
Follow this link to read
about Melmac's turkey season. This was the kind of season that memories are made of. There are pictures too.

This is the deer Melmac got on the opener of
Missouri's 1999 season. He took a doe on Saturday, and this
buck on Sunday. It's only a 5 pt., but it must have weighed a
ton, cause Melmac told me they broke a rafter in two in his Dad's
garage when they hoisted it up to skin and butcher it.
Other pictures will be coming....
