"There's gold, and it's haunting and haunting; it's luring me on as of old. But it's not the gold that I'm wanting, so much as just finding the gold."-Robert Service, 18-th century miner/poet.
Hey! I admit it; the gold is pretty, and it is worth lots of
money, but go prospecting just for the thrill of finding it. It's fun, and that is what it should be thought of as.
Of course; if you ever do get enough to sell, you'll make a little money on the side also. within in the text of this page,
you will learn many things. How to get your gold, where to find it, what to buy, and last but not least you'll see our collection of
gold found in the last year. Every piece of gold you see on this page was found by us. Including the one at the top next to the title.
It is true that gold is where you find it, but you should still use common sense when you are
searching for gold. Gold is heavy, twice as heavy as lead, and 19 times heavier than water. So when you're prospecting
in water, where would you think it would go first? Straight down to the bottom until it hits a hard surface. The most common hard surface is
bedrock. Bedrock can look different, and can be found in hundreds of different colors, textures, and chemical makeup. You might ask,"What if the bedrock is
flat?" That is where the cracks come in handy. As the water of 100's of floods over hundreds of years pushes that gold down across the bedrock, it finds a crack.
The gold drops right down to that crack.
Umpqua River
this is the spot that we found over 1/4 of an ounce in three days. It is also the spot that we found the nugget. Print it out if you really wanna a reference when going to the spot, because its kindave hard to get to.
Cow Creekthis is a good spot for the dredger, we've found a lot of color in this creek. The cow creek has been a famous gold hunting spot for years. If your'e lucky you might even find some old mines in this area.
