Central Rocky Mountains

Long's Peak -- 14,255' as seen from the top of Twin Sisters outside Estes Park, Colorado.

"The Keyhole"
Approximately 6 miles up the Long's Peak Trail is this space in the rock that is very aptly named. The trail passes right through it!

"The Narrows"
My favorite part of the climb up Long's! Two-hundred yards traversing a five foot wide sloping precipice that is coated with a thin layer of frost and ice. The drop falls down about 2,000 feet to the valley floor. It's amazing how close you can squish your body up against a cliff!

The summit!! Greg, Quinn, Molly and myself standing on top of Long's Peak after an eight hour climb which started at 2am!

1998 Western Wildlife Camp staffers Greg, Molly and Mariellen hiking out to our overnight spot in Roosevelt National Forest near Estes Park. Mt. Meeker is in the background.
