Pu'u Manamana is one of the most difficult trails on the island. The first
hour or so is all about steep climbing. However, you are rewarded with
some of the most spectacular views on the island. Behind us lay
Pu'u Piei and Kahana Bay.
Here is a group shot before the really steep climbing began.
In a single file, we headed up on the trail.
Here is a rarely seen view of the crouching lion. From this angle, it
still looks like a lion.
The lion looked so inviting, that we decided to take a detour and climb it.
Back on the trail, we continued our steep ascent.
More scenic views lay ahead of us. This shot shows the beach, just across
of the Crouching Lion Inn. On the right of the channel was a group of
surfers.
Can you say "narrow?" What a great feeling it is to walk on narrow
ridges! Chad raises his hands in victory.
Along the trail are golden fields of grass.
Somewhere along the narrow sections of the trail was a steep drop off.
Here, one member of tha Crew heads down the rock face.
At the end, there is a benchmark and a metal pole. It's time for another
group shot!
On the way back down, we could see the ridge that we had climbed in the
beginning.
Looking toward the bay, we could see our cars parked along the side of
the highway.
