Detail of the motor mounting, as seen from the left side. The motor is suspended under the frame of the bike by a wide bracket/strap we fabricated from aluminum sheet. This strap clamps around the BikeE frame using bolts through the mounting holes of the motor's gear reduction unit (which also conveniently holds the motor in place). A stainless steel hose clamp near the back of the motor ensures that the motor is firmly supported at both ends. Note the Curtis controller which is mounted on edge directly beneath the motor.
