"THE DEER OF SEASONS PAST"
Dan Blanding of Bridgeport, New York
shot this 160 class 13 pointer late in the NY shotgun season. Dan was still hunting through some
woods near his home, when he spotted two large does coming his way. Although he had an antlerless
permit in his pocket, and hadn't killed a deer yet that year, he decided to let them pass. Hunkering
down next to a big tree, he waited and watched the does backtrail. About ten minutes later, this big bruiser
came along, and Dan was rewarded with the "Buck of a Lifetime "!
Dom D'Amico of Syracuse New York killed this record book buck
while hunting the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge in upstate New York. Dom had passed up shots
at many smaller bucks, but it was easy to tell this one was a "shooter" when he came along. Hunting on the ground,
with nothing but a clump of soft maples between him and the buck, Dom played "squirrel" with him till
he passed the tree, offering a perfect quartering away shot. A razor tipped arrow from his Oneida Eagle Bow
flew true to its mark, and Dom collected the biggest buck of his life !
