....and MORE DEER TALES....

Jeb's BuckEd Batchelor (JEB) of Atoka, Oklahoma was hunting a scrape when he first saw this monster in October of '96. The buck never presented a clear shot, and wasn't seen again till November of the following year. Hunting over a scrape that he had doctored a week earlier, Ed saw a big buck chasing a doe, but once again, no shot presented itself. After returning for the afternoon hunt, he thought he heard something, but couldn't quite be sure. A short time later, this big bruiser came right into the scrape and put his nose right into it ! Ed was shaking pretty good when he drew back the Browning Mirage bow, but the arrow connected right between the big buck's shoulder blades, just missing the spine ! After a brief 75 yard run, the trophy deer went down, and Ed Batchelor had his name in the Record Book !

Archer's BuckTexas pan-handle resident Michael Lair (Archer) took this dandy 145 pound 8 pointer one morning at 7:45 am as it followed two does out into a field. Michael was shooting a Remington Model 700 ADL in .308 caliber when he made the shot at 175 yards. The 150 grain Nosler Balistic Tip bullet tore through both shoulders, the heart and both lungs, dropping the North Texas buck almost instantly !

The Blake Voltz Buck Blake Voltz of Columbia Georgia shot this tremendous 33 point buck in Muscogee County on Nov. 2 , 1997. Click here for the full story on the new #2 GA. Non-Typical ! (NOTE: Use your web-browsers "back" button to return to this page)

HuntNlady's Buck Christina Raving (HuntnLady) of Napa, California had an outstanding '97 season ! She got this beautiful 4 x 3 blacktail buck while hunting the oak woods of Mendocino County during the first weekend of September.

Chris was still hunting along a canyon ridge when she jumped the buck from its noon-day bed. (Note: Chris had the woods all to herself at this time, because all the other hunters from her camp were back in their noon-day beds !) *L* A quick, precise shot put the dandy blacktail down for the count, and Huntnlady's '97 season was off to a memorable start !

Chris also took a wild boar and a tremendous 5 x 5 Oregon bull elk last year, plus her 14 year old son, Alaric, got his first buck .......a forkhorn blacktail !! ( To read about these hunting adventures, click here. (Use your web-browsers "back" button to return to this page ).
