Engine facilities Worms (Germany)

As I visited Worms (September 29. and October 2. 1997) I found something remarkable there. A square 6 stall engine shed with a turntable !!! I found there more remains of the steam-area (ended in Germany 1976 and much earlier in Worms), like the towers of the coaling point, the ash-pit and two inspection pits outside (inside they are in all tracks). Remarkable is the fact that only 5 shed tracks are connected to the turntable, the sixt goes past this turntable.

Very important remark :
As I took these pictures a friend of mine was watching for security and as he made pictures I watched
and we were allowed to be there.

  • The bridge of the turntable
  • Standing between 2 tracks leading to the turntable.
  • Each side has only 5 connecting tracks
  • In the upperleft the 2 towers of the coal-cranes
  • One of the 2 inspection-pits outside the shed.
  • The cranes to load the coal into the engines were on these concrete towers.
  • The track on the foreground was the coal-gon-track
  • It's dark in the shed, even by sunny-daylight
  • 3(the empty) tracks are still used by the DB-AG.
  • The other tracks are for the "Pfalzer Museum"
  • A couple of doors of the shed
  • If the doors are open, they are tightened to the wooden posts who look like bumpers.
  • Interesting point to look from :
  • The track on the right goes from the turntable to the shed
  • The track from the upperright (turntable) leads to the passengerstation
  • The track on the left before the catenary post goes to the coaling station
  • The other track too, but over the ash-pit.
  • The track after the switch is the track were the car stood to put the ashes in.
  • The 30 50 94-93 013-8 waiting for a lift ? ;-)
  • The Koef 310 275-3 next to the shed.
  • The end of the track at the otherside of the turntable
