The Bush Hill Cub Pack would meet at the Rand Park High School on a Thursday afternoon between 16:00 and 17:30, some of the leaders running the pack were

Mrs. Barbara Phelps (Akela).
Mrs. Madeleine Ludwig (Future Akela).
Mrs. Combrink.

Scout Troop.

The Scout Troop started with the cubs leaving the pack and joining the White Horse Scout Troop as a patrol, until January 1983 when Mr. William (Bill) Phelps (Falcon) started the Scout Troop, meeting at the Honeydew Scout Groups Hall on a Monday Evening from 18:30 to 20:30. The Troop consisted of two patrols of six scouts.

Mr. Edward Stevenson (Stevo) joined the Troop as ATS in August 1983 to assist Falcon and take over running the troop when Falcon left at the end of the year.

Mr. Errol Kilpatrick (Kwagga) joined the troop in January 1984 as TS and eventually took over the running of the troop.

In 1985 it was decided that the Honeydew Scout Hall was no longer suitable for holding the Troop meetings, because it meant that a lot of equipment had to be taken to and from the hall for every meeting, The meetings would in future be held in Kwagga’s garages where the troop equipment was being stored.

Mr. Nigel Rittey (Kite) joined the troop in January 1986 as ATS and in May 1986 Stevo resigned from the troop to return to the UK. In 1986 The Group with the White Horse Group completed a joint venture of erecting a Scout Hall, for the use of both Groups.

In 1992, the Bush Hill Group and White Horse Group amalgamated to form one group to be known as The Randpark Ridge Scout Group, allowing for one committee to manage the Scout Hall and the administration of both Groups, but also allowing each group to maintain their identities.

In 1995 Russell Dowse (Sabre) joined the troop as ATS with the intention of taking over from Kwagga. He did so but left the troop during 1996 to complete further studies. 1997 saw Sabre regaining TS status and Craig Wood (Caracal) joined as ATS in September 1997. Stevo also rejoined the group as a helper towards the end of 1997.

Rodney Willoughby (Griffin) joined the troop as an ATS in January 1998 along with Richard Robinson (Kudu) from Liverpool. Richard then returned to the UK in July 1998. See our tribute to Kudu. The troop currently has three warranted scouters (Sabre, Griffin & Caracal) and one helper (Stevo).
