7/29/95 w/ Rick, Norine, Vance,Tani and Kyle

We traveled in two cars, Vance's Jimmy and my Saturn. The last part of the road to the trailhead had a small stream crossing it. I debated about going across in my Saturn. A guy sitting by the stream said that other cars had made it. I, not wanting my Saturn to be beat by other cars, proceeded across. I guess I went a little too fast because water splashed over the hood. We made it to the other side with no problems. Vance, Tani, and their son Kyle, were there to meet Rick, Norine, and I. Kyle and Tani had never climbed a fourteener before so we walked a little slower than I had anticipated. About half way up the trail towards Democrat, Rick, Norine, and I split off and marched ahead. The three of us summited Democrat and took a few pictures and then headed down the saddle towards Lincoln. On the saddle we ran into Vance, Tani, and Kyle. (The three of them later summited Democrat and then headed down back to their tent.) As we headed towards Lincoln, Rick detoured off to climb up to the top of Mount Cameron (14,238 ft but not considered a separate fourteener). He caught up to Norine and I before we summited. On the way, we picked up another climber who was all mixed up direction-wise. She swore her husband was parked on the opposite side of Mount Bross. We finally convinced her that she was wrong and if not we'd drive her to the other side. (Turns out we were right!) Rick and Norine had already climbed Mount Bross so they decided to head back down to the bowl with the other climber. I jogged over to Mount Bross, signed in, and then flew down the scree slope of Bross. Turns out my way was much faster and I had to wait 15 minutes for my party to catch up. We all met up with Vance, Tani, and Kyle to see that the wind had completely flattened their tent. I truly enjoyed the day. It was nice getting to climb three fourteeners in one day. There were so many mountains to look at from the summits. I will probably return to climb these and I'll also climb Mount Cameron for the heck of it!
