One
of the coolest things about the Canyon is the surprise of the initial view.
From the road on which I approached, you couldn't see it all until you
could see a fantastic view of ALOT of it--- "Oh my God, there it IS!" The
unspeakable vastness is completely stunning. And not only the vastness
of space, but the great yawning vastness of time is apparent as well. How
impossibly long could it take the river to cut this enormous rift into
the Earth? "Millions" and "billions" are merely words. When you look at
this, you are looking at time itself.
