San
Antonio Missions National Historic Park consists of four Spanish missions
built in the 1700's.
They are linked by the "Mission Trail", which runs for a couple of miles near downtown San Antonio. These missions are still in use, serving the local Catholic community, with masses held regularly. This is Mission San Jose. |
| The walls of the missions were once plastered and painted with bright colors and designs. Almost all of this is gone now, I believe this wall of San Jose is the last remnant. | ![]() |

Mission San Juan. The last time I was there, significant restoration was proceeding. The greater part of the building in this photo consisted of huge granaries where food was stored to feed the Indians. |
