Barth Pond Information

Quick overview:
Barth Pond is one of our "never fail" venues (Lake Arlington being the other). Although the Carp sometimes do not want to cooperate, the very numerous Bluegills are more than willing to hit Spring, Summer or Fall (Winter ice fishing is not allowed). Barth is used as a retention basin for storm water from the south and east, and empties into St. Joe Creek. Running at a max depth of 6', the Park District stocks catfish in Barth's, mostly for the kids fishing contests they hold. Other species of fish are not stocked by the DNR, as the pond empties into a creek. Parking on both the East and West sides of the lake, along with steel pylons to prevent erosion, and some flagstone lined shoreline add to the ambiance to this most pleasant venue.
