Pickerel Lake Information

Quick overview:
Pickerel Lake, along with Catfish Pond, Horsetail Pond and Beaver Slough, all are part of Pratt Wayne Woods, maintained by the DuPage County Forest Preserve District. A former gravel pit and largest of the four lakes in Pratt Wayne, the lake is fed by and empties into Brewster Creek. The lake also has two floating piers, and several limestone fishing platforms. Currently the NWMA has had only one open water match at this venue and others will be needed to decide how this venue will rank. For ice fishing, the lake has easy access, and deeper(20') water which ensures an unlikely winter fish kill from occurring. Another plus for ice fishing is the lake is only 30 acres in size which allows for anglers to be in sight of each other, even if on opposite sides of the venue. A pleasent safeguard if anyones breaks thru the ice!
Member poll: Ice or Open water poll coming for the 2001 - 2002 season
