Instead of car-pooling from Willie's Tavern you may meet the group at the location of the hike.

ALLAIRE STATE PARK, WALL TWP.
7-8 miles of mostly level terrain through the Pinelands and an historic village.
Route 287 (south from Bedminister) to Exit 9 (Bound Brook/Highland Park). Continue south about 4 miles on River Road past Johnson Park. Turn right onto Route 18 South. South on Route 18 about 22 miles to Route 34 South. South on Route 34 past N.W.S. Earle. Routes 34 and 33 merge together for about a mile. At the next traffic circle, stay on Route 34. Continue on Route 34 South for about 5 miles. IMMEDIATELY after passing over Route 195, turn into a jughandle onto West Eighteenth Avenue. Continue to end at T intersection, and cross over road into gravel parking lot. About 50 minutes from Bedminster.

ALLAMUCHY STATE PARK, HACKETTSTOWN
7-8 miles of moderately hilly terrain around Deer Pond to scenic overlook.
Route 287 to Route 206 North. (From Bedminster, turn right out of parking lot, and right at light. Continue to Route 206 at next light. Turn right onto Route 206 North.) Route 206 North about 18 miles to Route 80 West. Route 80 West 9 miles to Route 517 (Exit 19). Turn left onto Route 517 South. Continue about 2 miles, past Panther Hill and Mattar's. JUST past heavy deer area sign on right, turn left into Deer Park Road. Continue about 0.5 mile on poorly-paved single-lane road and park in Main Parking Lot. (WATCH OUT FOR ON-COMING VEHICLES, POTHOLES AND OVERWEIGHT DEER!!). About 45 minutes from Bedminster.

BATTLEFIELD STATE PARK, MANALAPAN TWP.
6-7 miles of level, sandy trails, from Old Tennent Church to the Molly Pitcher well, and the reenactment of the Revolutionary War Battle of Monmouth.
Route 287 (south from Bedminster) to Exit 9 (Bound Brook/Highland Park). Continue south about 4 miles on River Road past Johnson Park. Turn right onto Route 18 South. South on Route 18 about 12 miles to Route 9 South. South on Route 9 about 6 miles past Covered Bridge and Gordon's Corner Road, to Taylor's Mill Road. Turn right onto Taylor's Mill Road. Continue about 1 mile. At next light, turn left onto Tennent Road (Route 3). Continue through next light for about 1 1/2 miles. Tennent Church is on left. Turn left into cemetery. Take next right into parking lot by modern buildings. About 50 minutes from Bedminster.

BIG BROOK, COLTS NECK TWP.
4 mile STREAM WALK and FOSSIL HUNT. We will get WET. Wear old sneakers or aqua sox and bring a colander and trowel to sift for fossils. A TRIP FOR ADVENTURESOME PEOPLE.
Route 287 (south from Bedminster) to Exit 9. (Bound Brook/Highland Park). Continue south about 4 miles on River Road past Johnson Park. Turn right on to Route 18 South. South on Route 18 to Route 79 North. Route 79 north through traffic light. Take next right onto Vanderburg Road. Continue 4 miles, passing industrial park, crossing Boundary Road (road is now called Crine Road) bearing left at intersection with Dutch Lane and Heulitt Roads, and passing Colts Gait. Turn left at T-intersection onto Conover Road. Take next left onto Laurelwood Road. Continue about 1/4 mile and park at bridge over Big Brook. About 45 minutes from Bedminster.

BULLS ISLAND, STOCKTON
About 7 miles of level terrain on towpaths between the canal and the Delaware River.
Route 287 to Route 202 South, Route 202 South about 30 miles to Route 29 (last exit in NJ). Route 29 North about 6 miles to Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park (Bulls Island) on the left. Cross bridge and park in day-use parking area. About 40 minutes from Bedminster.

CANAL WALK TO BUCCLEUCH PARK, from FIVE MILE LOCK, FRANKLIN TWP.
About 8.5 miles of level terrain on the towpath along the canal, to Buccleuch Park and a visit to the haunted Van Wickle House. Lunch at the Lebanese Festival. Optional visit to Egyptian Festival after the hike.
Route 287 to Exit 10. (South from Bedminster.) Easton Avenue (Route 527) to Worlds Fair Drive. (First right. from north. From south, pass back under Route 287, following signs for New Brunswick.) First right off Worlds Fair Drive. Park in first parking area on right, next to Quality Inn motel. About 20 minutes from Bedminster.

CANAL WALK TO COLONIAL PARK, from BLACKWELLS MILLS
6 miles of level terrain on the towpath along the canal and around Colonial Park.
Route 206 to Route 514. (From Bedminster, Routes 202/206 south. Stay on Route 206 when it splits off.) Turn left (east) on Route 514 (Amwell Road.) Continue to end at T intersection with Main Street/Millstone River Road. Turn right. Millstone River Road south about 1 1/2 miles. Take first left onto Blackwells Mills Road. IMMEDIATELY turn right into parking lot at edge of road. About 30 minutes from Bedminster.

CANAL WALK TO PRINCETON, from PLAINSBORO AQUEDUCT
6 miles of level terrain on the towpath along the canal and through Institute Woods to Princeton Battlefield State Park.
Route 287 to Route 206 South. (From Bedminster, Route 202 South to Route 206 South.) Route 206 South about 15 miles to Route 518 (Franklin Turnpike / Washington Avenue. Tigers Tale on the far right corner, Montgomery Plaza on the left. Turn left onto Route 518 and follow through town about 1.75 mile. Cross over Canal and take first right after canal onto Route 603 South (Kingston-Rocky Hill Road). Continue straight across the intersection, down a little hill to a stop sign. Continue straight (do not take right fork). Continue about 1 mile to Route 1 at the Holiday Inn. Turn right onto Route 1 south. Continue about 3 miles, passing Forrestal Village. At the second underpass, the road widens to 4 or 5 lanes. Get over to the right before this overpass, and turn right onto Mapleton Avenue. Continue about 0.25 mile to Plainsboro Aqueduct Parking Area, on left, across from brick apartments. About 30 minutes from Bedminster.

CANAL WALK TO PRINCETON, from KINGSTON
6 miles of level terrain on the towpath along the canal and around Lake Carnegie.
Route 287 to Route 206 South. (From Bedminster, Route 202 South to Route 206 South.) Route 206 South about 15 miles to Route 518 (Franklin Turnpike / Washington Avenue, at small sign for Rockingham). Turn left onto Route 518 and follow through town, Cross over Canal and turn right onto Kingston-Rocky Hill Road (first right after Canal). Bear left onto Laurel Avenue at fork (right fork is one way the other way) and proceed to Main Street (Route 27). Turn right onto Main Street. On left side of street, at bottom of hill, pull into Winepress Restaurant, next to florist and Canal. Park at Winepress. About 25 minutes from Bedminster.

DELAWARE & RARITAN CANAL, KINGSTON
6 to 8 miles of level terrain on the towpath along the canal.
Route 287 to Route 206 South. (From Bedminster, Route 202 South to Route 206 South.) Route 206 South about 15 miles to Route 518 (Franklin Turnpike/Washington Avenue. (Just past Montgomery Plaza on left.) Turn left onto Route 518 and follow through town about 1 3/4 mile. Cross over Canal and at the light take first right after canal onto Route 603 South (Kingston-Rocky Hill Road). Continue about 1 3/4 mile to light at Main Street (Route 27). Turn right onto Main Street. Continue through next light and immediately turn left into parking lot of Winepress Restaurant. About 25 minutes from Bedminster.

DELAWARE & RARITAN CANAL, LAMBERTVILLE
6 miles of level terrain on the towpath along the canal to Moores Station.
Route 287 to Route 202 South. Route 202 South about 20 miles to Route 179. Route 179 South, going down a large hill into Lambertville. At bottom of hill is light at Bridge Street. Immediately thereafter Route 179 turns into Route 29. Continue about 1/8 mile around a slight bend in the road. Turn right onto Feeder Street at the sign for River Walk. Make a left at the bottom of Feeder Street into the River Walk parking lot. About 35 minutes from Bedminster.

CANAL WALK TO GRIGGSTOWN FROM ROUTE 27, KINGSTON
About 8.5 miles of level terrain on the towpath along the canal, to the canal museum.
Route 287 to Route 206 South. (From Bedminster, Route 202 South to Route 206 South.) Route 206 South about 15 miles to Route 518 (Franklin Turnpike/Washington Avenue - Tiger's Tale at this corner.) Turn left onto Route 518 into town. Take first right onto Crescent Place (a fork intersection, not a 90 degree turn). Continue through 4-way stop sign. Continue through 15 m.p.h. curve onto River Road. Take River Road about 2 miles to end at light. Turn left onto Route 27 north. IMMEDIATELY turn right into Park, and right into parking lot. About 25 minutes from Bedminster.

CATFISH POND, DELAWARE WATER GAP
6.5 miles of mostly level but rocky terrain with one fairly long steep hill and fantastic views from the ridge top. BRING SWIM GEAR.
Route 287 to Route 206 North. (From Bedminster, turn right out of parking lot and right at light. Continue to Route 206 at next light. Turn right onto Route 206 North.) Route 206 North about 18 miles to Route 80 West. Route 80 West 15.9 miles to Route 521 (Exit 12). Route 521 North 4.6 miles to Route 94. Turn left on Route 94 South. Route 94 South about a quarter mile to the light. Make 90° RIGHT turn onto Route 602. Stay on Route 602 through Blairstown by continuing up hill past church, turning right at t-intersection, continuing up hill and bearing left onto Millbrook Road at fork. Continue to STAY ON ROUTE 602 about 5 miles into Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Continue up, over and down the mountain and park in Millbrook Village at bottom of hill by intersection with Old Coppermine Road. After meeting there, we MUST CARPOOL back up to top of hill, where parking is SCARCE. About 60 minutes from Bedminster.

CHEESEQUAKE STATE PARK, OLD BRIDGE
6-7 miles of level to rolling hills, through forests, fields, cedar swamps and marshland.
Route 287 (South from Bedminster) to Parkway. Parkway South to Exit 120. At end of exit, turn right onto Laurence Harbor Road. Continue to light at Exxon. Turn right onto Cliffwood Avenue. Continue one block to light. Turn right onto Gordon Avenue. Continue into park, through gate. Pass parking lots on right and left. At T-intersection, turn left and continue until road becomes parking lot. About 30 minutes from Bedminster.

COPPERMINE TRAIL, DELAWARE WATER GAP
6 miles of rocky, hilly terrain with fantastic views from the top of Mount Mohican.
Route 287 to Route 206 North. (From Bedminster, turn right out of parking lot, and right at light Continue to Route 206 at next light. Turn right onto Route 206 North.) Route 206 North about 18 miles to Route 80 West. Route 80 West about 26 miles to last exit in New Jersey. At bottom of ramp, turn right at stop sign and when LONG light turns green, continue for 7.8 miles north on Old Copper Mine Road to Coppermine Trail parking on left. About 60 minutes from Bedminster.

CRATER LAKE, DELAWARE WATER GAP
6-7 miles of moderately hilly terrain on wide woods roads past Blue Mountain Lakes and Hemlock Pond to Crater Lake.
Route 287 to Route 206 North. (From Bedminster, turn right out of parking lot, and right at light. Continue to Route 206 at next light. Turn right onto Route 206 North.) Route 206 North about 18 miles to Route 80 West. Route 80 West 15.9 miles to Route 521 (Exit 12). Route 521 North 4.6 miles to Route 94. Turn left on Route 94 South. Route 94 South about a quarter mile to the light. Make 90° RIGHT turn onto Route 602. Stay on Route 602 through Blairstown by continuing up hill past church, turning right at t-intersection, continuing up hill and bearing left onto Millbrook Road at fork. Continue to STAY ON ROUTE 602 about 5 miles into Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Continue up, over and down the mountain to Old Mine Road at Millbrook Village. Turn right onto Old Mine Road and continue about 2 miles to Flatbrookville-Stillwater Road (Route 624). Turn right and continue about 1.5 miles to Blue Mountain Lakes parking. About 65 minutes from Bedminster.

CUSHETUNK MOUNTAIN, Lebanon Twp.
6-7 miles of hilly, rocky terrain into Round Valley
Route 287 (South from Bedminster) to Route 78 West. Route 78 West 10 miles to Exit 20A. Route 639 South about 1/4 mile to Route 22. Cross Route 22 and continue to T-intersection. Turn left. Take first right. Continue about 1 mile. Turn left onto Old Mountain Road. Continue about 2 miles to Cushetunk Mountain parking on right, just before railroad tracks. About 20 minutes from Bedminster.

DELAWARE & RARITAN CANAL, Griggstown
7 miles of level terrain on the towpath to historic Blackwells Mills.
Route 287 to Route 206 South. (From Bedminster, Route 202 South to Route 206 South.) Route 206 South about 9 miles to Route 514. Route 514 East 3 miles to T-intersection. Turn right onto Millstone River Road (County Route 533). Continue about 4 miles to second left. Turn left onto "Causeway." Park in either first or second parking lot. Meet on south side of road across from Museum. DO NOT PARK ON EDGE OF ROAD. About 25 minutes from Bedminster.

DELAWARE RIVER TUBING TRIP, Delaware Twp. LED BY JACK
5 mile river tubing trip from Delaware Water Gap to Columbia. No experience necessary, but participants should be able to swim, or float if tube tips over. Wear old sneakers. Registration and prepayment of $5 trip fee by JULY 14 (call Jack at 908-781-9248). Tube rental is additional $4 or you may bring your own INFLATED tube AND life vest (required by law). Snack attack at Jack's house after tubing is $1 extra.

TO JACK'S HOUSE: Route 287 (South from Bedminster) to Route 78 West. Route 78 West to Route 31 North. Route 31 North to Buttzville. Turn left on to Route 46 West. Route 46 West for six miles. JUST PAST sign on right for Ramseyburg Road and JUST BEFORE Marshal's red farm stand, turn left on to Willow Road, and continue to Jack's house just ahead. Get tubes and life vests at Jack's. Return to Route 46. Turn left and proceed north to turn-off for Columbia. Park by footbridge across river. Leave half of cars.

TO WATER GAP: Return to Route 80 West. Route 80 West past sign for Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Turn right into next Rest Area. IMMEDIATELY turn left and go down hill paralleling Route 80. At bottoom of hill, turn left and go under Route 80. On the other side of Route 80, turn right on to park road. Proceed to Visitor's Center.

TRANSPORTATION BY CAR SHUTTLES IS NECESSARY. ALL participants should meet at Jack's house, then drive to Columbia, leaving half the cars there and then driving in the remaining cars to Delaware Water Gap. About 60 minutes from Bedminster.

Harrisville Lake
DIRECTIONS TO HARRISVILLE LAKE, NEW GRETNA, NJ
Parkway to Exit 52. At end of exit, turn left onto East Greenbush Road. Continue about a mile to Route 9. Turn right onto Route 9. Route 9 South past West Greenbush Road, over Bass River and under Parkway. At next road, turn right onto Maple Avenue (Route 679). At fork, bear left, continuing on Chatsworth Road (Route 679). Cross Leektown Road (Route 542). Continue up the road a couple of miles to Harrisville Lake on right. ALTERNATE ROUTE: Turnpike to Exit 7. Route 206 South 3 miles past Red Lion circle (intersection of Route 70) to Route 532 (Chatsworth Road). Turn left onto Route 532 East and continue about 11 miles to Chatsworth. Turn right onto Route 563 South (New Gretna-Chatsworth Road). Route 563 South about 10 miles past Mick's Canoes and Pine Barren Canoes to Route 679 (Harrisville-Chatsworth Road). Turn left onto Route 679, toward Martha. Route 679 southeast about 1 1/4 mile to Harrisville Lake on left. About 2 hours from Bedminster.

HIGH MOUNTAIN, WAYNE
6-7 miles of hilly trails with a panoramic view.
Route 287 to Route 80. Route 80 East to Exit 53. Continue about 0.3 miles on Route 46 East. Exit on Riverview Drive, Wayne (SECOND exit for Riverview). Continue about 1 mile to Valley Road. Turn right onto Valley Road. Continue past Ratzer Road, to Hamburg Turnpike. Turn right onto Hamburg Turnpike. Continue about 1 mile past Casey O'Toole's to College Road. Turn left and continue about 1 mile, past the hospital, White Hall and Hillside Hall, to Parking Lot 6. The entrance takes you toward the bottom of the hill. Just inside the parking lot, turn left and go up to the top level. About 45 mintues from Bedminster.

HOLMDEL PARK and RAMANESSIN BROOK, HOLMDEL
5 miles of easy terrain through woodlands and arboretum, followed by a fossil hunt in the brook.
Bring old sneakers and a colander for the fossil hunt.

Route 287 (South from Bedminster) to Parkway. Parkway South to Exit 114. At end of exit ramp, turn right onto Red Hill Road. Continue about 1/2 mile to light. Turn right onto Crawfords Corner Everett Road and continue about 1 mile, past Lucent Technology. Turn left onto Roberts Road and continue about 3/4 mile to Longstreet Road. Turn right, and IMMEDIATELY turn left into Park. Take park road up hill to parking lot at end of road. About 55 minutes from Bedminster.

JENNY JUMP STATE PARK, HOPE TWP.
6 miles of both hills and level terrain, with views of Delaware Water Gap.
Route 287 to Route 206 North. Route 206 North about 18 miles to Route 80 West. Route 80 West 15.9 miles to Route 521 (Exit 12). Turn left onto Route 521 South (Hope-Blairstown Road). Continue about 1 mile to light. Turn left onto Route 609 (Hope-Johnsonburg Road). Immediately turn right onto Route 611 (Hope-Great Meadows Road). Continue about 3-4 miles to Shades of Death Road. Turn left onto Shades of Death Road. Continue about 4 miles to State Park parking on left. About 45 minutes from Bedminster.

JOCKEY HOLLOW, MORRISTOWN
6-7 miles of rolling hills and somewhat rocky terrain.
Route 287 to Basking Ridge / North Maple Avenue Exit (look for Jockey Hollow signs and take ONLY the exit ramp indicated by this sign.) From the South, turn right at end of exit ramp. From the North, turn left at end of exit ramp. Continue to light. Turn right onto Route 202. Route 202 north about 2 miles to Tempe Wick Road. (From Bedminster, Route 202 North through Bernardsville, past Old Mill Inn about 8 miles, to Tempe Wick Road.) Turn left onto Tempe Wick Road. Tempe Wick Road west about 1 mile to park entrance on right. About 15 minutes from Bedminster.

KEN LOCKWOOD GORGE, CALIFON
8.5 miles of level terrain on an old rail-trail and along a scenic trout stream.
Route 287 to Route 206 North. (From Bedminster, turn right out of parking lot, and right at light. Continue to Route 206 at next light. Turn right onto Route 206 North.) Route 206 North about 3 miles beyond Lamington Road (Route 523) to sign for U.S. Equestrian Team. Turn left onto Pottersville Road (Route 512). Route 512 West about 2 1/2 miles to intersection at church and bank. Bear right, then at Y intersection, bear left over bridge. Just past deli-liquor store, bear left (staying on 512). Continue about 6 miles into Califon. At bottom of hill, turn right into unmarked parking lot across street from old train station and Coughlin Funeral Home. About 30 minutes from Bedminster.

LOANTAKA BROOK RESERVATION, MORRISTOWN
8 flat miles along the brook.
Route 287 (North from Bedminster) to Route 24 Exit. At end of ramp, turn right onto South Street. Just past Seaton Hackney Farm Stables, turn left into parking lot. About 20 minutes from Bedminster.

LEWIS MORRIS PARK, MORRISTOWN
6-7 miles of rolling hills and somewhat rocky terrain.
Route 287 to Basking Ridge/North Maple Avenue Exit #30 (look for Jockey Hollow signs and take ONLY the exit ramp indicated by this sign). From the South, turn right at end of exit ramp. From the North, turn left at end of exit ramp. Continue to light. Turn right onto Route 202. Route 202 north about 2 miles to Tempe Wick Road. (From Bedminster, Route 202 North through Bernardsville, past Old Mill Inn, about 8 miles to Tempe Wick Road.) Turn left onto Tempe Wick Road. Continue past Jockey Hollow for 2.6 miles to Corey Lane. Turn right onto Corey Lane. Continue 1.5 miles to T-intersection at end. Turn right onto Mendham Road. Continue 1.8 miles to entrance of park on right. Take park road about 1 mile to Sunrise Lake parking area, turning right down hill and left into parking. About 20 minutes from Bedminster.

MAHLON DICKERSON RESERVATION, JEFFERSON TWP.
7 miles of moderately hilly, rocky terrain with views of Lake Hopatcong.
Route 287 (North from Bedminster) to Route 80 West. Route 80 West 8 miles to Route 15 North. Route 15 North 4.2 miles. Just past the light at the Texaco station, get into the right lane. Take the second right-hand exoit onto Weldon Road. Take Welcon Road 4.5 miles, past Saffin Pond on right and trailer camping on left. Just past tent camping on right, turn left and park in Picnic Area. About 50 minutes from Bedminster.

MERRILL CREEK RESERVOIR, HARMONY TWP.
7 miles of mostly level terrain through the environmental preserve and around the reservoir.
Route 287 (South from Bedminster) to Route 78 West. Route 78 West to Exit 4. At bottom of exit ramp, turn right onto Route 637 North. Route 637 North 1.8 miles to blinker light. Turn right onto Route 638 (Washington Road). Route 638 2.5 miles to the Stop sign at Route 57. Cross Route 57 diagonally, and go up Merrill Creek Road on the other side of Route 57. After 2.1 miles bear left at Y intersection. At 0.3 miles turn left at sign for Merrill Creek Reservoir. Boat ramp is straight ahead. If the gates for the boat basin are open, continue down the hill and park in upper level of boat basin parking. If they are closed, turn right into Visitors Parking. About 50 minutes from Bedminster.

MOUNT TAMMANY, DELAWARE WATER GAP
6 miles of extremely hilly, rocky terrain, with great view of the Gap from the top.
Route 287 to Route 206 North. (From Bedminster, turn right out of parking lot, and right at light. Continue to Route 206 at next light. Turn right onto Route 206 North.) Route 206 North about 18 miles to Route 80 West. Route 80 West about 26 miles past sign for Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Turn right into next Rest Area. IMMEDIATELY turn left and go down hill paralleling Route 80. Go up hill and make next right turn into Dunnfield Parking Lot. About 60 minutes from Bedminster.

PATRIOTS PATH, MORRISTOWN
7 miles of broad, level trails, plus some moderate hills, with OPTIONAL swim AFTER the hike.
Route 287 to Basking Ridge/North Maple Avenue Exit #30 (look for Jockey Hollow signs and take ONLY the exit ramp indicated by this sign). Turn right at end of exit ramp. Continue to light. Turn right onto Route 202. Route 202 north about 3 1/4 miles to Bailey Hollow Road (past Shadowbrook and JUST past Harding Green). Left on Bailey Hollow Road to end (about 3/4 mile). Turn right onto Western Avenue for 1/10 mile, and immediately turn left onto Picatinny Road, for about 1 mile to end at T intersection. Turn right onto Mendham Road (Route 24). Continue 1 mile to Kahdena Road by sign for Fosterfields. Turn left onto Kahdena Road and follow about 1 mile to end, by light at T intersection. Turn right onto Sussex Road and IMMEDIATELY turn left into parking lot for Morris Township swimming pool and tennis courts. IT IS NECESSARY TO CARPOOL FROM THERE TO VERY LIMITED PARKING AT TRAILHEAD. About 25 minutes from Bedminster.

PAULINSKILL VALLEY TRAIL, BLAIRSTOWN
6.5 miles of level terrain on a rail trail along the Paulinskill River, followed by an optional swim at Camp Mohican.
Route 287 to Route 206 North. (From Bedminster, turn right out of parking lot, and right at light. Continue to Route 206 at next light. Turn right onto Route 206 North.) Route 206 North about 18 miles to Route 80 West. Route 80 West 15.9 miles to Route 521 (Exit 12). Route 521 North 4.6 miles to Route 94. Turn left on Route 94 South. Route 94 South about a quarter mile. JUST BEFORE TRAFFIC LIGHT, turn left into Footbridge Park. Pass tan house on right and immediately turn left into parking lot for trail. About 45 minutes from Bedminster.

PYRAMID MOUNTAIN, BOONTON
6-8 miles of very hilly, very rocky terrain, past Tripod Rock, an awesome glacial erratic.
Route 287 (north from Bedminster) to Exit 45 (Wooten Street). Exit ramp becomes Park Avenue. Go to stop sign and turn left onto Wooten Street. Continue on Wooten Street under Route 287 to next light at Myrtle Avenue (Route 202). Turn right onto Myrtle Avenue and continue about 1 mile to Excelsior One Fire Station on the left. Turn left onto Taylortown Road. Continue 2 miles on Taylortown Road up a hill to a large red bell on the right. Turn right onto Boonton Avenue (Route 511). Continue 0.8 miles to Mars Park on the right side of the road. Park cars in Mars Park. Meet at Visitor's Center on other side of the road. About 45 minutes from Bedminster.

RACCOON RIDGE, DELAWARE WATER GAP
6.5 miles of mostly level but rocky terrain with one fairly long steep hill and fantastic views from the ridge top.
Route 287 to Route 206 North. (From Bedminster, turn right out of parking lot, and right at light. Continue to Route 206 at next light. Turn right onto Route 206 North.) Route 206 North about 18 miles to Route 80 West. Route 80 West 15.9 miles to Route 521 (Exit 12). Route 521 North 4.6 miles to Route 94. Turn left on Route 94 South. Route 94 South about a quarter mile to the light. Make 90° right turn onto Route 602. Stay on Route 602 through Blairstown by continuing up hill past church, turning right at T-intersection, continuing up hill and bearing left at fork onto Millbrook Road. Continue to STAY ON ROUTE 602 about 5 miles into. Delaware Water Gap National Park. About 3/4 of a mile from this sign is a 6 mile marker. Just beyond, park on left side of the road. Do not block pipe gate. About 60 minutes from Bedminster.

RAMAPO MOUNTAIN STATE FOREST, OAKLAND
7.5 miles of moderately hilly, moderately rocky trails past Crystal Lake to beautiful mountainous views.
Route 202 South to Route 287 North to Exit 57 (Skyline Drive). Turn left at light at end of ramp. Continue 0.25 mile to parking lot on left for Ramapo Mountain State Forest. From there we will shuttle to Ramapo Reservation. About 45 minutes from Bedminster.

ROUND VALLEY RESERVOIR, LEBANON TWP.
8.5 moderately hilly miles with two long steep hills and views of the reservoir.
Route 287 (South from Bedminster) to Route 78 West. Route 78 West 10 miles to Exit 20A. Route 639 South about 1/4 mile to Route 22. Turn right onto Route 22 West. Continue about 1/2 mile on Route 22 West. Just past Round Valley sign, take jughandle for left turn into park access road. Continue for 2 miles, passing sign for boat launch. One mile later, turn left into park entrance. Bear right. Drive through gate and take first right turn into wilderness campsite parking. About 20 minutes from Bedminster.

SCHERMANN-HOFFMAN WILDLIFE SANCTUARY, BERNARDSVILLE.
7 miles of rolling hills and somewhat rocky terrain.
Route 287 to Basking Ridge / North Maple Avenue Exit. At light at Old Mill Inn, cross intersection with Route 202 and continue on Child's Road about 100 yards. (Route 202 North about 6 miles from Bedminster. Pass AT&T, turn left onto Child's Road.) At the fork bear right onto Hardscrabble Road and proceed one mile to LOWER LEVEL PARKING LOT ON STREET LEVEL on right. About 15 minutes from Bedminster.

SOUTH MOUNTAIN RESERVATION (Locust Grove Parking, Off Glen Avenue), MILLBURN
6-7 miles of moderately hilly, rocky terrain.
Route 287 (South from Bedminster) to Route 78 East. Route 78 East about 19 miles. Route 78 bears right after Exit 45. IMMEDIATELY thereafter, get into the left lane and look for Exit 48, "Millburn, Route 24", appearing suddenly on the left as you descend a ramp. The exit ramp proceeds into the LEFT lane of Route 24. IMMEDIATELY get over into the RIGHT lane to take the "Millburn/Summit" exit at 0.4 miles. On this exit ramp, stay to the left. There is a light at top of exit. Continue 0.4 miles to second light at Scotty's Restaurant. Turn left onto Millburn Avenue. Continue for a mile or two to the third light. Turn left onto Lackawanna Avenue. Continue two blocks to end and cross Glen Avenue to enter Locust Grove Parking. About 30 minutes from Bedminster.

SUNFISH POND, DELAWARE WATER GAP
8.5 miles of moderately hilly, very rocky terrain, along Dunnfield Creek and the Appalachian Trail.
Route 287 to Route 206 North. (From Bedminster, turn right out of parking lot, and right at light. Continue to Route 206 at next light. Turn right onto Route 206 North.) Route 206 North about 18 miles to Route 80 West. Route 80 West 15.9 miles to Route 521. Route 521 North 4.6 miles to Route 94. Turn left on Route 94 South. Route 94 South abut 3.5 miles to Walnut Valley Road (sign on left for Yards Creek Pumped Storage Station). Turn right onto Walnut Valley Road and continue for several miles up the mountain to Yards Creek. Stop at the guard house to sign in, then bear left up to picnic area. Park at far end of picnic area, by rest rooms. About 60 minutes from Bedminster.

SUNFISH POND, DELAWARE WATER GAP
8.5 miles of moderately hilly, very rock terrain, along Dunnfield Creek and the Appalachian Trail.
Route 287 to Route 206 North. (From Bedminster, turn right out of parking lot, and right at light. Continue to Route 206 at next light. Turn right onto Route 206 North.) Route 206 North about 18 miles to Route 80 West. Route 80 West about 26 miles past sign for Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Turn right into next Rest Area. IMMEDIATELY turn left and go down hill paralleling Route 80. Go up hill and make next right turn into Dunnfield Parking Lot. About 60 minutes from Bedminster.

VAN CAMPENS GLEN, DELAWARE WATER GAP
Mostly level 8 miles with an extremely difficult downhill to the Delaware River.
Route 287 to Route 206 North. (From Bedminster, turn right out of parking lot, and right at light Continue to Route 206 at next light. Turn right onto Route 206 North.) Route 206 North about 18 miles to Route 80 West. Route 80 West 15.9 miles to Route 521 (Exit 12). Route 521 North 4.6 miles to Route 94. Turn left on Route 94 South. Route 94 South about a quarter mile to the light. Make 90° RIGHT turn onto Route 602. Stay on Route 602 through Blairstown by continuing up hill past church, turning right at t-intersection, continuing up hill and bearing left onto Millbrook Road at fork. STAY ON ROUTE 602 about 5 miles into Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Continue up, over and down the mountain and park in Millbrook Village at the bottom of hill by intersection with Old Coppermine Road. About 60 minutes from Bedminster.

WASHINGTON VALLEY PARK, BRIDGEWATER
Moderately hilly 7 miles along brooks and reservoir and past Chimney Rock.
Route 287 to Exit 22. Route 202 south about 2 miles past The Hills to light at A&P. Turn left onto Washington Valley Road (Route 525 Spur). Continue about 7 miles, past two lights at gas stations in Martinsville. After the second light at Chimney Rock Road, take third right onto Vosseler. Continue 1.2 miles to Miller Lane. Turn right and continue into park, to parking lot at end of lane. About 45 minutes from Bedminster.

WASHINGTON'S CROSSING STATE PARK, TITUSVILLE
Mostly level 7-8 miles following Washington's march on Trenton, the canal towpath, and back along the Delaware River.
Route 287 to Route 202 South. Route 202 South to Route 29 (last exit in NJ). Route 29 South about 10 miles to Route 546. Turn right toward bridge to PA, but DO NOT CROSS bridge. IMMEDIATELY turn right again, onto park road along river. Pass parking and picnic area on right. Continue about 1/2 mile to last small parking area. About 45 minutes from Bedminster.

WATCHUNG RESERVATION (from Seeley's Pond), MOUNTAINSIDE
7 miles of rolling hills, rocky terrain.
Route 287 (South from Bedminster) to Route 78 East. Route 78 East about 15 miles to Exit 44 (New Providence / Berkeley Heights). At light, turn right onto Glenside Avenue. Continue 1 mile to bottom of hill, Turn right onto Valley Road. Entrance to parking lot is a few feet ahead on the left. About 30 minutes from Bedminster.

WATCHUNG RESERVATION (from Trailside Museum), MOUNTAINSIDE
7 miles of rolling hills, rocky terrain.
Route 287 (South from Bedminster) to Route 78 East. Route 78 East about 15 miles to Exit 44 (New Providence / Berkeley Heights). At light, turn LEFT onto Glenside Avenue. Continue for 1.2 miles. Turn right onto Route 645. Pass lake and picnic area and continue for one or two miles up to circle at top of hill. Turn right into circle. Turn right at sign for "US 22 Berkeley / New Providence," and continue 1/2 mile to Trailside Museum. Turn right into parking lot. About 30 minutes from Bedminster.
