Program Overview

The intention of the Pin@y Youth Organizers Summit is to create a space for conversation. Conversations that will make a difference. We believe that the act of gathering leaders opens up a space that is not always available in the day to day work of empowering our youth. Each day will involve both small group as well as large group dialogues around topics directly and indirectly involved with community advocacy. We propose that we already have the numbers, the resources, the ability to create a positive future for our youth. We our only missing the key to unlocking our inherent capability. Our access to this power, is communication with one another.

Mornings will begin with large group dialogue around pertinent topics and will be followed in the afternoon by more specific small group sessions. The entire weekend is not a "class", a "conference" or a series of "workshops". The summit is an extended conversation created for, about and in the service of community organizers. Join us in August. Make your voice heard....Make OUR voice heard.

The question on your mind may be, how does the Pin@y Youth Organizers Summit differ from a conference? We hope to find the answer to this question together in San Jose on August 2 to 4. However one of the things that may distinguish the summit from conferences that many of us have attended in the past, is that we hope the youth summit will inspire those in attendance, and those in the community of the attendees on to transform their respective communities. The kinds of topics we will be covering over the course of the summit is listed below. But please keep in mind that these are but some of the issues that our community faces.
