The Shed......A Sow's Ear to Silk Purse Story!

Herein lies the story of the Shed. A place I acquired several years ago (course then it had a house on the same lot) and decided to rebuild, add on and move into. At present, May 1, 2000, it's an 80 year old shed that's been the home of raccoons and possums! Stinks! The foundation's still good, the roof I replaced about 3 years ago (rafters and all). My plans are to rebuild the shed, leaving the northerly wall open...and then to build an 18' X 12' addition onto it that will include a bath and an office area, then another addition on the rear of it that will be a utility/motorcycle garage area and a place to keep my tools. Here's what it looks like in the beginning

In the beginning just a humble shed.....

With 3 full drums of fuel oil and a bathtub.

 Kinda trashy...huh?

Here's a shot from the front after I'd raised half the roof...look close...the roof's way up on one side

and here's that side...I raised it 2.5 feet so I could have 8" ceilings when I was done. You might

notice the quality of the interior walls here...they're 80+ years old and housed raccoons last!

here you see the come a long I used to raise the roof with...

another shot from inside.still got just half the roof up

and another from outside...the drums holding up the old wall.....You can see the new beam from here

This from the back...new posts and beams are in..I have to keep it tied up though from no support

I'd replaced the roof and rafters about 3 years ago...now the wall have to go

Looking at it from the road up the driveway...

yesterday (May 7, 2000) I dug a trench to the old septic tank and ran my sewage pipe...drains in!  Still no power yet though...Dayton Power & Light's draggin their feet!
