According to KITARO-san' comment on the booklet of this album's original edition, this is KITARO-san's original album based on both the soundtrack of the Japanese movie "Jugo Shojo Hyoryuki" (loose translation: The Story of 15 Girls on Drifting Away") which was born from an idea by KITARO-san, and that movie's theme songs which was written and performed with Jon Anderson (Yes vocalist) who joined the project of that movie.

This album has some obvious different aspects from KITARO-san's usual albums.

a: Containing the songs which featured vocals singing lyrics. Those songs are "LADY OF DREAMS" and "ISLAND OF LIFE" both of which are featuring vocals by Jon Anderson. "ISLAND OF LIFE" is the main theme song for the movie "Jugo Shojo Hyoryuki". In fact, mostly KITARO Music fans like KITARO-san's songs which featured vocals singing lyrics. It seems no surprise, because KITARO-san is always good at approachable melody and there are many pop music style songs in his whole repertoire, and also because of the fact that KITARO-san was grown up by listening to the music which featured vocals singing lyrics, too. These two songs are the highlight of this album, and musically have the same direction as his last studio recording album KOJIKI, i.e. having wide range of dynamism, etc. etc.

b: Containing some songs which are NOT mainly performed by KITARO-san himself. For example, "SYMPHONY OF THE FOREST" and "SYMPHONY OF DREAMS" both of which mainly features string orchestra. This aspect brings slightly different atmosphere of "KITARO-san's typical flow represented through an album" to this album.

c: Containing the songs which was already released in previous album. They are "AQUA" and "SUNDANCE". "AQUA" on this album is the same version as on TEN YEARS album, and "SUNDANCE" on this album is the same version as on THE LIGHT OF THE SPIRIT album. While the same aspect are happened in KI album, for those who don't have an opportunity to see the movie "Jugo Shojo Hyoryuki", there must be no meaning for the inclusion of these previously released songs. As KITARO-san is the musician who create an album as one music opus, these inclusion (of a part of older opus) never makes this album's impression better.

So if you don't think "No way!! THIS is the album what I want", pick up this album's "sister album" DREAM which seems to be reconstructed for the worldwide release, based on this album LADY OF DREAMS. DREAM does not contain "AQUA" and "SUNDANCE" while containing other new songs which can be heard only on DREAM album. (Check out album guide of DREAM.)
