Sangli is a comparatively new city and well planned. The
Municipal Corporation was formed by the merger of three cities
Sangli, Miraj & Kupwad of which Sangli is the largest. Sangli
is the largest center for turmeric trade in India. The turmeric
powder produced in Sangli is exported to almost all countries of
the world. At the Sangli Turmeric Exchange, trades worth
billions of rupees take place every day. Sangli also has one of
the largest commodity markets in India. The Tasgaon grapes of
Sangli are famous all over the world. Apart from this Sangli
