Waitin' for the Pop

by Katherine Ashewode
to the tune of "Puttin' on the Ritz"

In Pro Wrestling, the "pop" is when the audience either cheers or boos, essentially when they're engaging with the performers in the ring. As a performer myself, sometimes I'm waiting for the audience to laugh, clap, or cheer, and they just don't. This song was written out of that frustration. (And let me tell you, it's really hard to fit rhymes to "Puttin' on the Ritz." I don't recommend it.)

You're on stage and nobody will get engaged,
Where do you go to make them stop?
Waitin' for the pop.

Drinkin' beers, they turn their backs,
To toss their spears or throwing axe.
Close up shop,
Waitin' for the pop.

Those two talkin' over on a blanky,
That one blows his nose into a hanky,
[ha] Very swanky.

Come let's sing at that convention,
Bards are kings and get attention
Till they drop
Waitin' for the pop.
