Something to Sing
![]()
My current passion in the SCA is bardic arts: singing and storytelling. Not only is this a fun way to pass the time, it's also free! Resources are available on the internet or at any public library. As a service to all the aspiring bards reading this page, I thought I'd offer some resources.
The stuff on this page:
- Original stories and songs
- Original stories and poems on period themes
- Verse translations from Classical and Medieval Latin
- Teaching poems
- Useful web sites (coming soon!)
- Books with primary sources (coming soon!)
- Overcoming stage fright (coming soon!)

- The Tale of Reprobus -- guess who it's about
Verse Translations from Classical and Medieval Latin
I am currently in the process of studying Latin. As a study aid, I have been writing verse translations of classical Latin texts. That is, I take Latin poetry and write it as English poetry. Once I start studying Medieval Latin, there shall be translations of those pieces as well. This list is currently small, but growing.

Teaching Poems
Another ongoing project, poems written in a specific form (eg: sonnet) that explain how to write that form. You'll understand if you read one.
- A ballad isn't hard to write -- a ballad about ballads
- The sonnet is the easiest of poems -- a sonnet about sonnets
