About Anakbayan
Anakbayan-Aklan is a provincial chapter of Anakbayan, a National Democratic comprehensive mass organization of the Filipino youth. that struggle for the youth's interests firmly linked up with the people's struggle in realizing a truly free and democratic society that gears towards socialist goal. In recognition of the youth's historic role in their struggle towards social justice and emancipation against a decadent and oppressive semicolonial and semifeudal system of the country, Anakbayan was established on November 30, 1998 in Tondo, Manila. The historic day was the 135th birthday of the great revolutionary hero and leader of the Katipunan, Andres Bonifacio and the 34th founding anniversary of Kabataang Makabayan (KM), the first comprehensive National Democratic organization of the Filipino youth also called the Second Propaganda Movement. Inspired by the revolutionary tradition of the Philippine Revolution of 1896 and the First Quarter Storm of the 60-70's , Anakbayan is at the forefront together with other National Democratic organizations in revitalizing and carrying forward the national democratic struggle. Anakbayan is an active member of the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN).
