Sport

I enjoy football either as a player or as a spectator. I got into football from a very young age and it has always been my favorite hobby. In the past, I've been involved in competitive football, playing in the "Sunday League". Now, with age weighing a little bit down on me, I prefer to limit my football to the occasional 5-aside. My all-time favourite player is the Cameroonian Abega Theophile, for those who remember the
Cameroon team of the 1982 world cup, or the 1984 African Nations Cup, in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. My second favourite player is the superb Diego Maradona who lit up the 1986 world cup in Mexico. The best match I've ever watched is the 1982 world cup second round  between Brazil of Zico and Italy of Rossi.

Reading

I don't really have time for literature these days. The novels I've been fond of in the past are those from Mongo Beti, Ferdinand Oyono, the French writer Racine, and the Nigerian Chinua Achebe. My fovourite novel has always been "Une Vie de Boy" by Ferdinand Oyono, which is about the French colonisation in Cameroon. These days, I'm more interested in historical documentaries, such as Apartheid in South Africa, the Israelo-Palestinian conflict, Egyptian civilisation, Cameroon's history before its independence.

I also enjoy scientific journals on the creation of the Universe, Einstein's Relativity theory, the great inventions, etc. My hero is without doubt the greatest mind of all times, Albert Einstein, for his works on Relativity, particularly the relationship between matter and energy, his elaborate theory on the nature of gravity, first observed by Newton. I also have an interest in the works of Faraday, Maxwell, Charles Babbage, Fleming, Fourier, Laplace, etc.

Television

I have a passion for programmes on nature, particularly about the animals on the Serengueti plains, in Tanzania. I also enjoy comedy, especially classics such as "Only Fools and Horses", "Yes Prime Minister", "Open All Hours", "Some Mothers do have them", "Cosby Show", etc. I like some among the new breed of comedians like Jo Pasquale, Ricky Gervais, as well as the political satire from Rory Bremner. Current affairs and documentaries are also interesting to watch.

Culinary Indulgence

My culinary tastes are varied. Generally I prefer a good meal made at home, which I find more interesting and appetizing. I'm passionate about Cameroonian cuisine and my favourites are grilled fish with "Miondo", and cooked vegetables like "Ndole". I also enjoy a good meal out, particularly chinese and to a lesser extent Indian cuisine.

Cinema

I regularly go to the cinema with my two beautiful children (Yves and Natasha), as they enjoy cartoons and comic films. I can't stand violent movies, nor do I find any interest in science-fiction. One of my old time favourites is the film "Ghost" with Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore. My kids and I have also very much enjoyed "The Lion King I & II".

Travel

I love travelling whenever the opportunity presents itself. My favourite destination has always been Paris, having been there a few times on short stays (August bank Holiday week-end). I've also been to Brussels once, and have travelled extensively within the USA. My aim is to explore Latin America and South-East Asia.

Music

Undoubtedly, my favourite music is Makossa, a rhythm from Cameroon. I like listening and dancing to it. I also enjoy pop music as well as R&B (Shaggy, Blu Cantrell, Mary J.Blige, Beyonce, etc.). Salsa and Merengue are another musical interest of mine, mainly from a dancing point of view. I'm still at a learning stage...
