Hotohori

Hotohori is the emperor of Konan. Known to the seishis for his vanity,

he is a kind-hearted emperor who tries his best to

prevent his people from suffering.

His parents have passed away since he was young, and he took over

the throne at a very young age. However, the young emperor had always

been lonely. Because of that, he thought the Suzaku no miko, who was to come

from another world, would be his only friend... and lover.

That was how he came to love Miaka, but he soon learnt to give up his feelings,

to give way to Tamahome...

Hotohori's weapon is a sword. He is a wonderful swordsman,

due to the endless training since young, beside the fact that

he was often mistaken for a lady.

Little of Hotohori is shown throughout the book, as he

always had to stay behind in Konan to look over the matters of the

kingdom. A few facts... He courageously dies in the hands of Nakago,

for the sake of his country, leaving behind a wife named Houki, and an unborn child.

The resemblance between Houki and Nuriko is uncanny... It was as

though they were the same person. The only difference is that

Houki is a real woman. Later on, it is revealed that they have a

son named Boushin. A very cute son, who wouldn't talk...
