Nuriko

To some people's surprise, Nuriko is a transvestite.

He is the strongest of all the seishis... and to my opinion,

one of the liveliest. He and Tasuki hit it off very well at the

very beginning. And when Miaka was down in the dumps, it

was the duo who help try cheer her up... it worked, to some extent.

Nuriko originally declares that he loves Hotohori, but

later finds himself unconsciously liking Miaka. However, he did not want

to ruin Miaka's and Tamahome's happiness, and tries to hide his feelings.

Nuriko is the very first seishi to die in a battle. He had fought Ashitare,

a were-wolf, to his death, for the sake of obtaining a sacred jewel,

so as to allow Miaka to summon Suzaku.

Nuriko is one of the many seishis with a sad past. The reason behind

his choice of wanting to become female...

Nuriko had a sister named Kourin. They were very close.

However, one day, Kourin was running toward Nuriko when

the former was run down by a horse carriage, and died.

Nuriko, unable to accept the truth, began to become Kourin,

by dressing in her clothes, and acting like a female, hence the

existence of a transvestite.
