This page is to explain a little about myself and what I'm up to here in Kendall New York.
he what is easy, I'm keeping Pheasants. Lot's of people keep birds. Ducks, Geese, Cockatoos, Parrots, Finches. Those big things with the striped beaks, what are they... Toucans or something?
I like Pheasants, they live outside. And they don't talk back or bite your finger off. They are quite inexpensive too. The rarest Pheasants sell for a fraction of what you'd pay for one of those killer Toucans, or a vicious mean spirited trash mouth Parrot. And these are wild birds that roam freely
throughout Asia, and in a few cases are endangered. Good breeders that care about keeping unrelated pairs of Pheasants are needed to ensure the continuation of each species in the wild. And to buy my young Pheasants so I don't have to feed them forever.

Me with my Savage Arms .30.30 * Boom Stick*

tried my hand at raising some birds back in the 1980's probably around 84. I had a nice mixed collection going, ducks, geese, peafowl and some bantams. My father took ill and passed away in 1985 of cancer. He was my best friend. Then the Black and Decker plant where I worked as a welder announced it was closing and moving to Singapore. And to top it off my neighbors dog killed about half of my ducks and all my Peafowl. He got my Read Heads, Mandarins, and Ruddy Shell Ducks. So I gave up and sold the rest of my stock before I brought down a tornado or something. All I kept were an old pair of Silvers that I couldn't bear to part with.  Why is it that when a predator
attacks it always gets your best stuff?
So it's Spring 2004, 20 years later and I have the itch again. So here I go. I am a compulsive maniacal totally out of control person so I will have to have all the Pheasants. Right now it's approaching fall and I think I have done well. I have a pair of Swinhoe's, a trio of Silvers. a trio of Goldens, a trio of Ghigi's, a pair of Impians, a Temmincs Tragopan hen, four Lady Amherst's and a Kalij cock. I also have sale pending on a trio of India Blue Peafowl,  a Temmincs Tragopan cock, and another pair of Impians. I think I like my start, let's see what winter brings.

A few odd ducks from the old days

ame bird people are to my experience a friendly group. I find that they like to show off there farms and give newcomers the benefit of there knowledge. My first purchase this summer was a Golden Cock that I bought from Danny Porter of Hamlin New York. Danny is one of a kind, a great guy and an expert with birds and animals. But he raises Donkey's... Donkey's? Then I met the Jarosinski's, real nice people from Holley New York. They sold me Swinhoe's and Lady Amhearst's. They also sold me a pair of Ghigi hens. Then I met the Kootte's, Frieda and Simon from East Aurora New york . These people really know Pheasants, and they are what I'm talking about. Extremely helpful and enthusiastic about this hobby. Frieda sold me my first Temmincks Tragopan, a beautiful hen. And she found me a male for her. I also got my first Impians from
Frieda, and a cock for that pair of Ghigi hens. Wile we were in the pen catching the Impians I noticed a cute little pheasant go running by, I asked her what it was and she told me it was a Kalij cock bird,,, So I bought that too.

My goal in this is to own everything. I will cover my entire 3.5 acres with pens if necessary. I must have them all. But no ducks, or Toucans. I'm just kidding (yea right) But I really do intend to buy Grey Peacock Pheasants so if you have them e-mail me. And I am thinking about Java green Peafowl, and Satyr Tragopans.
