Surigao
is the home of some of the poorest people in the nation, especially
in its islands. Most of them survive on a day-to-day produce from
fishing and farming. Creative utilization of their limited resources
is an artistic way of life in the islands. Nothing is wasted but recycled
or used for other purposes. Because of the poverty and lack of education,
chronic dieseases and malnutrition become added burden to the family.
Whether
through evangelism, discipleship, or mercy ministries, we in Surigao
base try to do what we can to establish God's kingdom in the light
of this situation.
