On 3 August 2001, the whole family took a road trip to Mexico, MO to pick-up the flaps, slats, and fuselage kits. Due to the long fuselage skins, the ZAC folks recommended a truck with at least 14ft of flat space. We rented a 17ft U-Haul, but probably could have gotten by with something smaller. At any rate, we got all the material home with no problems and unloaded in the garage prior to inventory and storage. However, a weekday trip to ZAC would not be complete without another ride in the 801 just to keep the motivation going.
On this trip, Nick was kind enough to take me, Becky, and Rachel for a short trip around the patch. Rachel had ridden in the 801 on an earlier trip, but this was Becky's first demo ride. She claims that she was just yawning in the photo below ... but I'd like to think she was just bit by the flying bug! |
