SYMPTOMS
Moderate Symptoms
- Casualty may experience disturbed vision
- Casualty may feel nauseated or already be vomiting
- Rapid pulse, weakness, shortness of breath
Severe Symptoms
- One or two small puncture wounds with visible sharp
pain and local swelling.
- Breathing may become difficult or fail altogether
- Symptoms and signs of shock.
- Salivation and sweating may appear in advanced stages of
venom reaction.
- slurred speech, convulsions, paralyis.
AIM
Reassure the casualty, prevent absorption of venom,
and arrange urgent removal to hospital.

TREATMENT
1. Lay the casualty down and advise her not to move
2. Immobilize the affected part, but do not
elevate it.
3. Wash the wound thoroughly with soap and water.
Moderate Symptoms.
4. If moderate symptoms develop, apply a constricting band
from 2 - 4 inches above the bite. Be alert to swelling; loosen
the band if it becomes too tight.
Severe Symptoms
5. If severe symptoms develop, apply constricting band, and make
a cut in the skin with a sharp sterilized blade through the
fang marks. Cut should be no deeper than just through skin
and should be 1/2 inch long.extending over the suspected
venom deposit point.
DO NOT make a cross cut incisions
DO NOT make cuts on the head, neck or trunk.
6. Suction should be applied with a suction cup for 30 minutes
and if suction cup is not available, use the mouth.
7. If the casualty becomes unconscious, do ABC of
Resuscitation if required and place her in
the Recovery Position.
5. Arrange removal to the hospital
