Our Mission

Sleepy Creek furniture artisans produce custom "Arts & Crafts", better known as Craftsman, furniture.   We specialize in the production of Morris Chairs    We also repair and restore antique pieces to original condition.   To ensure long term durability we utilize traditional mortise and tenon and dovetail joinery, joints are pinned where appropriate. We use fine quality quarter sawn White Oak, aged Cherry, figured Maple and Mahogany hardwoods.   Each piece we produce is signed and dated. Finishes include fumed (aged) oak, colonial maple and antique cherry with hand rubbed protective coatings.   Other colors and finishes are available on request. Many of our projects are designed in-house, others are reproductions of scaled original antiques or commercially available plans.   We will customize to suit customer needs.   If you do not see what you are interested in, call and discuss, or send us a sketch or photo of what you desire. We do not produce rocking chair versions of the traditional Morris chairs.

Company Profile

The Furniture Works is a new company, about 3 years old.   We are located near Berkeley Springs, West Virginia.   We do not maintain an inventory of pre-made furniture or a showroom.   Each piece is designed and made for the client.   To insure quality construction and timely delivery, we limit the number of orders we take in our small shops.   To keep shipping costs down, we prefer to do business in the eastern panhandle of West Virginia, western Maryland and northern Virginia, but can ship anywhere in the U.S.  (We no longer ship to the West Coast).   There are no shipping charges for delivery in this designated service area.  Our pricing is fair and reasonable, so please shop and compare.   We will require a deposit for materials and hardware prior to staring work on your piece.   There are a significant number of options for cushion fabrication that have a very wide range of pricing, and of course comfort.  We recommend you have your own cushions made, in fact, it is the smartest way to purchase a chair.   Shipping costs are not included in the quoted prices outside the local area..   Production takes from two to four weeks with our current backlog. Upholstery takes from four to six weeks.   Prices do not include WV sales tax of 6%. Shipping generally runs about 13% or a $75 minimum.  We now accept Credit Cards through "Yahoo Pay Direct on a secure site".
