| Ok currently the weather has sucked, and so has the boarding, I'll be
in the mountains in a week or so and should have some fresh pictures up.
Yo this is me an my boy steve, i'm in the red.
Ok so if you want to get into snowboarding , there are a few things you need to know. For instance, the size of your board, if you ride goofy or regular, what kind of bindings you want, what degree you want your bindings set to, what brand board, and what gear you will need to wear.
Board : Before anything you need to find out what size board you want. I ride a 155' k2 fatbob. generally you can judge the size you need by how tall it is. stand it on its edge and if it comes to between your chin and eye-level you should be set. of course you can get other sizes, like if you want to ride strictly terrain parks you might want a shorter board. As for what brand, style, and width , that is just personal preference. Riding: Ok well you will either ride regular or goofy. regular is left foot forward which is how most people ride, or you can ride goofy (fakie). To find out how you want to ride, have a friend stand behind you and push you, whichever foot you put forward to catch yourself is the foot you will put forward on the board. Of course once you master riding one way, you can learn the other. Boots: When you get boots, you pretty much just wanna look for fit. you want to have a tight enough fit that your feet don't move or slide around in the boots, but not so tight that they cut off your circulation. I have a pair of solomons, they are great. they have a removable inner lining that can be tightened or loosened, even before you tighten the actual boot itself. Make sure when you buy your boots they aren't a cheap pair, because some brands may make cheap boots, but they won't keep your feet dry or warm.
BiNdInGs: there are two basic styles of bindings. Clickers or straps. Clickers are a good system and are designed for quick attachment to your board.
GeAr: Ok naturally you will want to stay warm. so the only thing I can really do is tell you what I wear. i wear just one pair of regular socks, pajama pants, board/snow pants, a long sleeve shirt, (on colder days a sweat shirt) then a snowboard jacket, and a beenie. You will also want to get a good pair of tinted goggles. another thing you may want to carry is chap stick and maybe something with a lotta sugar, like hard candy just to keep your mouth from drying out.
