2003 Preview

January 30, 2003- Here is a description for what to look for in 2003 for each BFL team. Who is a favorite? Who has got their work cut out for them selves? Take a look now.

Norton Black Knights- John is a veteran of the BFL but slipped this past season to miss out on the post season. If John can return to his 2000 form, he will be a contender to go the the BFL Bowl. He Has games that can all go either way. If the Black Knights can get back on track, they have the potential to be the best team in the league.

Congress Bulldogs- In Andrew's first two seasons, he has a record of 1-5. He just missed the playoffs last season after a collapse against the Fear in the season finally. In the past two seasons, Andrew lost to the Sparrows. If Andrew can figure out a way to beat Ken, then the Bulldogs could win a 4 or 5 playoff spot with some smart defense.

Smith Crusaders- Last season Rich put up amazing regular season numbers with a 3-0 record. However, Rich played poorly in his first playoff game. Look for the same intensity for the Crusaders this year and a playoff spot. This year the Crusaders (Now with playoff experience) will go far in the playoffs, and maybe even reach BFL Bowl VI.

Victory Fear- Sean will be the surprise team this year. Last year, he held leads in all three games. And now he knows how to finish off a team, ending his season with a win over the Bulldogs. The only thing in Sean's way is a tough schedule of three veteran teams. However, look for Sean to play spoiler and make a run for a Wild Card spot.

Buttonwood Gamblers- This is the year for Mark K. to win it all. In the past two seasons, Mark came 1 play away from going to BFL Bowls IV and V. Now that the Dragons are gone, nothing stands in Marks way for the path to the BFL Bowl. Mark put up the most points last season and can probably do the same again. As long as Mark plays to his potential, he will be a favorite to win the South.

Snowhill Icebergs- With the history of recent expansion teams, odds are against Mark C. to make the playoffs, however, depending on how fast Mark can pick up the game, he may be able to make the playoffs. Once he learns the ropes, the Icebergs will be an instant contender for a top 3 spot in the playoffs. It will be interesting to see the progression of this expansion team.

Old Stage Sand Storm- Charlie ended last season with a 0-3 record but left on a high note, nearly beating the Crusaders. And Charlie guaranteed that he will win BFL Bowl VI. While that may not necessarily occur, Charlie's confidence and endurance will be at it's highest come May. Charlie is not a long shot for the playoffs, possibly a top 3 spot if he gets the right bounces.

Pelham Sparrows- Coming off of a slow start, Ken's offense went on fire just in time for the playoffs to win him BFL Bowl V last season. This season, Ken stated that he is going to turn down the intensity and increase the fun. Look for the Sparrows to have one of the most explosive offenses in the league this year, which could lead him to win the North.
