Glossary
Welcome to my glossary. You may find
strange and wonderful words on the World Wide Web that are used in the context
of Mountainboarding, and you have no idea what on Earth they mean. Well, it’s
Zebbo the Clown to the rescue! It’s even in alphabetical order!

= carving is where you move left to right in a smooth and calm motion. This can
be used to keep your speed under control.
Deck
= the deck of a Mountainboard is the piece of the board which you stand on, the
main, often wooden, part.
Downhill
= as the name suggests, downhill is where one travels as fast as possible down a
downhill section.
Freeride
= freeride is basically where you just have fun carving (see below) or just
going at your own pace
Freestyle
= freestyle is the aspect of Mountainboarding where the tricks are performed,
almost always off of a kicker (see below).
Gnarly
= gnarly is an expression of difficulty. E.g. “that is one gnarly jump”

Kicker
= a kicker is a ramp which tricks are performed off of.
Kiteboarding
= kiteboarding is where one attaches ones self to ones board, and is pulled
along by the use of a power kite. (see below) This is often practised on beaches
and LARGE open fields.

Trucks
= the trucks of a board, are the bits which keep the wheels (I hope I don’t have
to explain what they are) attached to the board. Some boards have skateboard
style trucks, with no springs, but these are mainly used for Kiteboarding. (see
below)
If there are any which I have missed (which
I'm sure there are) just e-mail them to me at the contact me section. Nice ONE!
