My writing

Juvenilia: I started by dictating to my mother, then writing for myself. This is a collection of some stories I wrote aged between about 4 and 12 -- with illustrations.
Various novels:
- Bird of Hope: My first sf novel. Started in high school, finished some eight or nine years later, currently labouring in a publisher's slushpile.
- Love and Curses: A Comedy of Horses aka "The Kangaroo Story": A YA fantasy novel, final draft completed.
- Faith, Hope, and Respectful Attachment: A second sf novel; second draft completed.
- Untitled: A sequel to the above, in first draft.
- Chalice of Truth: An alternate history and/or quest fantasy set in early 16th century Scandinavia, first draft completed.
Various short stories: a mixture of sf and fantasy, mostly unfinished or unpublished.

  - reprinted in Best of the Rest 4
Miscellaneous:
- The Bible in Verse: While in Korea, I rewrote the first creation story of the Bible to the tune of Morning Has Broken.
- The Pointy Villain Theory: also conceived in Korea.
- 1066 and all that: my personal mnemonic for the regnal dates of the kings and queens of England, among other things.

Ouroboros

The Emperor of Northern and Southern ice, of Western lands and Eastern seas, sent armies and navies beyond his distant borders to conquer all.

"There's a great threat in the West," said the General.

"There's great resistance in the East," said the Admiral.

"Fight to the end!" said the Emperor.

Have you heard, the crazy man jumped off the bridge? His mother screamed when they brought him out.
