Disc Brakes
There are many options available for converting to disc brakes, in various degrees of quality and expense. Beware of these kits that look like the bracket was chopped out of a piece of scrap steel.
I chose a kit from No Limit Engineering (www.nolimit.net) which utilizes Ford rotors with a 5-5.5 bolt circle.

First, you need to remove EVERYTHING from the front spindle of the truck. Remove all of the old grease and clean the spindle.
Now, you are reading to begin installation. The bearing adapter in these kits are press-fit, and believe me they are TIGHT!!!
If you haven't already rebuilt your front end, this is the perfect time to replace your king pins. While you have the spindle at the machine shop having your bushings pin-fitted, have him press the adapters on in an arbor press. This will save you a lot of headache!!
If your front is already rebuilt, you will have to pound them on. Don't trial fit them, it will get stuck!!! Heat the adapters in an oven so they will expand. Place the hot adapter on the spindle and drive it on with a piece of pipe. The adapter needs to seat against the shoulder on your spindle.
Next, install your bracket using the hardware and spacers provided. The flat of the bolt head must be against the shoulder of the spindle to seat properly. You can see the bracket and the orientation of the bolts in this picture. (sorry for the poor quality)
