Go north-west of the sanctuary to get to the Death Mountain Trail. Lift the large green stone and enter the cave.
Walk through the dark cave, whilst avoiding the bats. You'll meet an old man, he will follow you. Go through the east door with him into the next bit of the cave. He will direct you, and tell you a story about his grandaughter. Go out the south exit and you will be on Death Mountain.
Try to avoid the large green boulders, falling down on you, and walk east. The old man will give you the Magic Mirror, and then go into the nearby cave, where he shall remain.
Now walk north up Death Mountain. Climb the long ladder to reach the higher part. Use the portal near Spectacle Rock and you will travel to the Dark World.
As a cute little bunny rabbit, you can't use your sword or even pick things up. Notice that spectacle rock is flat in the dark world? Use the mirror while standing on it and you will be transported back to the light world on top of Spectacle Rock. Drop off and you will be at the entrance to the Mountain Palace.
