Since 1985 has played in several bands, including Gringolene, where he met Andy and dicovered the persona Dr McGringo. He has also dabbled in songwriting for cabaret and musical theatre and is the self-confessed "worst banjo player you ever heard.".
Switched from guitar to bass in 1999, making up the second half of Zen Arcade's driving rhythm section.
Interests include pub games, water sports and wildlife (both sorts). An avid Black Label drinker, his nickname refers not to his icy cool demeanour, but to his ready supply of beer at all times.
