Get ready for Jesus!
For thousands of years god's true believers have been murdering god's alternative true believers. As tragic as it has been for the loved ones of victims, from a global perspective it didn't really matter. If thousands of Jews murdered thousands of Canaanites, or thousands of Apollo worshipping Romans murdered thousands of Jews and Christians, or thousands of Catholics murdered thousands of heretics, or thousands of Crusaders murdered thousands of Muslims, or thousands of Muslims murdered thousands of Hindus, and vice versa, or thousands of Lutherans and Catholics gassed millions of Jews, or thousands of Shintos murdered thousands of Buddhists, the world survived. God was on the side of the winners and there was always the next righteous war to look forward to.But that changed when mankind developed the nuclear bomb. Suddenly we had the capacity to destroy all human and most animal life on planet Earth. With that change should have come a change of attitude. But it didn't. Instead we've got millions of evangelical Christians actually looking forward to a nuclear holocaust because to their confused way of thinking nuclear war is required to restore Jesus to his former glory. Armageddon is prophesied in the bible therefore it must happen, and when it does happen the "righteous" will be "raptured" up to heaven just as Jesus plummets down to earth, and everything will be ticketyboo.
The reality is somewhat different.
The truth is that everyone will die, either directly from the bombs or by radiation, starvation and disease. The only things to survive will be cockroaches and maybe some moluscs on the sea bed that don't require sunlight. Nuclear winter. The sun will be blotted out for several decades and all creatures and vegetation that require sunlight for their survival will die. Come to think of it, even cockroaches will need to wrap up warm.
None of this would matter if we were talking about a few dozen snake-handling Kentucky hillbillies, but we're not. We're talking about the people who program Pentagon computers. We're talking about the crews and possibly even the commanders of nuclear submarines, crews and captains of stealth bombers, and pairs of fresh faced Baptist boys waiting patiently down missile silos. Am I the only person to realize how dangerous it is to have the world's deadliest weapons under the control of the world's craziest people? Russia has been re-infected with Christianity big time, and now Russian Orthodox boys eagerly await the same command as their US counterparts. They long for the red-alert that will transfer control of their anointed missiles to them.
They may not have to wait too long, Russia's 19,500 nuclear warheads are ready to rock, and the early warning radar malfunctions from time to time. Twice that we know of in recent years, Russia has come within minutes of launching a full scale nuclear attack on America and Europe due to false alarms. In 1995 a flock of seagulls was misinterpreted as an American nuclear launch, and on another occasion a Norwegian weather balloon set the alarm bells ringing.
In 2004 when the Russian nuclear submarine Kursk sank in the North Sea, Russia was, and remains convinced that the USA torpedoed it or at the very least was involved in the sinking. We may never know how close we came to nuclear war over that incident. And prior to that, throughout the Boris Yeltsin era, we were one vodka away from disaster. Yeltsin was drunk for most of the eight years he ruled Russia and he carried the nuclear 'briefcase' with him everywhere he went. Only the fact that President Bill Clinton's father was an alcoholic and Clinton knew how to handle alcoholics got us through that period.
No one appreciates the debt we owe to Bill Clinton and his skillful handling of the drunken oaf Yeltsin. It would have been a very different scenario had the buffoon George W. Bush been in charge.
You would think that in such a climate, American citizens would be concerned, but they're not. Americans are more concerned about Janet Jackson's tits and gay marriages than they are about the horrible deaths of their children. Americans have been dumbed down to such a degree that millions of them are actually looking forward to "Armageddon". They want Jesus to return in their lifetime. Why wait? George W. Bush and his adviser, Condoleezza Rice are both fundamentalist Christians. For all their talk about world peace they secretly yearn for war. World War Three. The Big One.
All that's slowing the process down are certain biblical prophesies that must be fulfilled, and fulfilled in the right order. For example, the mosque atop the Temple Mount in Jerusalem must be destroyed. Red heifers must roam free in Israel. One Texas billionaire farmer has bred red heifers and flown them to Israel to fulfill that particular prophesy.
To a normal human being all this sounds like absolute madness, and so it is. But religion is madness. Most people can't see how mad it is because they are themselves sucked into one faith or another. Like Branch Davidians awaiting the return of David Koresh, evangelical Christians await the return of Jesus. And they're growing impatient!
You don't need to visit America to meet God's imbeciles. They're everywhere. Try your local evangelical church, those people pouring out with angelic smiles and tears in their eyes have got the message. Clutching their doomed children in their arms they'll beam at you and say, "Oh yes, the tribulations are coming, isn't it wonderful!"
People think I exaggerate the situation, I do not. We have come close to nuclear war several times this past fifty or so years. The Berlin stand off, Suez, Cuba, Korea, Yom Kippur, Vietnam, India/Pakistan, and now Korea again and hot on its heels we've got Taiwan waiting in the wings. Plus numerous near collisions between Soviet and US submarines. If you think I exaggerate, try running red lights over and over again and see how long you can go without a smash.
When you've got a quarter of the population of the world's most powerful nation looking forward to nuclear war, governed by people who are itching to make their dreams come true, confronting Muslim "martyrs" who'll stop at nothing to destabilize the world, and Russia's missiles held in check by obsolete and faulty 1960's technology, that is a recipe for disaster.
Bush and co are determined to destabilize things further by building the Star Wars missile defense system. This will compel Russia and China to upgrade their missiles capability and prepare for the worst. Bush knows that, and that's the whole idea. He can't pronounce "nuclear" but he sure can dream about it! It's a fun gamble and America can't lose because God is on its side, and whatever the outcome of World War Three, the righteous are on that glory train to heaven.
The lunatics are running the asylum like never before.
Update: Since my writing this essay several years ago, George W. Bush has scrapped the nuclear test ban treaty and has announced his intention to move nuclear missiles close to Russia's borders. Russia has responded by upgrading its nuclear warheads, making them easier to launch and harder to detect. For the first time since the fall of the Soviet Union, In May 2008 Russia paraded nuclear missiles through Red Square to demonstrate its nuclear might. Iran may or may not have the capability to build nuclear bombs but whether it does or whether it doesn't, Israel expects the USA to nuke Iran. If the USA doesn't obey, and it usually does, Israel will probably launch its own pre-emptive strike. Russia has billions of dollars invested in Iran, and hundreds of Russian citizens, everything from scientists to builders, live and work there. For your children's sake, and your children's children, you need to engage your brain, remove the blinkers, and see how cruelly you've been deceived. By believing the crap that was rammed into your head when you were too young to discern truth from trash, you have become part of the problem. Your compliance in the scheme of things is crucial to a successful mission. The mission, Jim, should you choose to accept it, is annihilation of the human race.
Don't think for one second that we'll be safe down here in the Southern hemisphere. Once the Northern hemisphere is rendered uninhabitable, where do you think the American, Russian, British etc fleets will head? That's right, you guessed it, South America, Australia and New Zealand. What will you do, wave a white flag that says "Special Relationship"? Once the world is destroyed, all semblance of civilization will vanish. It'll be every desperate, terrified and starving man for himself.
Right now we are enjoying a period of respite, the calm before the storm. Enjoy it because it won't last long. Israel and the USI will see to that.
