Chapter 1:
Part 1,
Sirus Cadone, a man in his mid 50’s,
with long gray hair and strong chin stands outside his house,
looking silently at the black night sky. At first glance,
he seems like an ordinary middle aged man, but anyone who
looks closely enough will see scars all over his body. They
are battle scars, for Sirus Cadone, was once an assassin
and a soldier. Now he is the leader of a band of rebels
known as the “Forest Wolves”.
“Father, what are you doing out there,
you’ll catch a cold!”
Interrupting his deep silence, a beautiful young woman calls
out to him and walks in his direction. It was his eldest
daughter Misha.
“So how is he, Misha?”
“Teena says he will be fine. But father… I don’t
think we should be keeping him here.”
“Now, now Misha, he needs our help”
Misha’s face became serious, and her voice, stronger
“But he’s an imperial soldier! When he wakes
up, he could kill us all”
Sirus answered in silence, for he knows his daughter has
experienced firsthand what corrupt imperial soldiers can
do.
“I am sorry father. I didn’t mean to shout like…”
“Not all imperial soldiers are corrupt, my daughter.
Besides, he saved my life once”
“Y-you know him?”
Sirus looked up at the sky, and took a deep breath. He was
silent for awhile, as if trying to remember a past experience.
“As you know, I once worked as an imperial soldier.
In the final days of the battle for the province of Garnevc,
I was struck by three arrows. I thought I was a goner. Then
he came along. He was deflecting arrows and fighting the
enemy while he was carrying me to safety. You should have
seen it, it was incredible. I would never forget the face.
It is him, the Dragonwolf!”
Suddenly, a third voice joins them. It was Sirus’s
youngest daughter, Kristeena Cadone.
“Dragonwolf? You mean he’s Zen Lang?”
“There is no doubt in my mind, my child”
She heard stories of the man who brought countless victories
to the empire. A man who can take out an entire army single-handedly.
Zen Lang, the Dragonwolf. She thought it was a mere legend,
but a while ago, she was treating his wounds, and Kristeena
Cadone could not believe what she just heard.
“And I thought he was invincible” whispered
Misha
