and the forms divinely beautiful." The Pre-Raphaelite movement was a reaction against 'modern' techniques (ie. the Impressionists) the in the late 1800s. The Pre-Raphaelites wished to return to the style seen before the painter Raphael (hence the name). Though the movement had little to offer the development of art, and thus is often derided by critics, it is responsible for many beautiful and memorable images.
