The Doctor scores a six! |
Just months after coming third in the British Film Institue's run-down of the best British TV shows ever, Doctor Who has scored highly in yet another ' best of' vote. Channel 4 Television asked viewers to voter for their favourites in it's search for the Top 100 Television Characters. The results of which were televised over the weekend of 5 and 6 May. |
Big Finish have recently been back in the studio recording some new audio adventures with Paul McGann (right) and India Fisher, recreating their roles as the Eighth Doctor and his latest companion Charley Pollard. |
The good Doctor came a very respectable sixth in the list, beating the likes of Alan Patridge & Star Trek's Mr Spock to a place in the top ten. The eventual winner turned out to be Homer Simpson. Significantly, the Doctor was the highest placed non-comic character in the poll A full list of all 100 characters can be found at www.channel4.com/100_tvs |

The trailer for "Death Comes to Time" is now available on the BBC Official Website. Downloads are available in RealAudio format. Dan Freedman, executive producer of the radio show, told members of the official site how important it was for this trailer, and the eventual broadcast of the full audio on July 13, to be downloaded: I'm not sure about the technical issues, just that the pilot is online for a year so you'll have plenty of time to hear it... This is really really important: every time you listen to the prog[ram] it will register on the BBC's counter. For the first time in DW's history we have exact viewing figures, (or downloading figures or whatever). One of the problems I encounter time and again is that people in charge don't think DW is popular any more. If I can go into my next meeting about DW projects I may or may not be involved in with a huge wad of figures, then there's no argument against it and it makes reviving DW a risk-free venture for the bosses, whether it be internet, radio, CD or TV. All you have to do is log on to DCCT, and vote too wherever you can. DCCT is the gun and your listening to it is the bullets, so give me ammo. Listen in twice a day and force your granny at gunpoint to do the same! Please tell any other websites you know of, magazines, whatever. Spread the word!... If it doesn't do well, then it will be a nail in the coffin. I had the perceived lack of success of the 96 film thrown at me as an argument against making a radio version! My one fear is that people will not listen in because its not TV, but it is absolutely essential to any further DW project that the site be swamped. dawn l and people at Manchester 2000 asked how they can help, well here is where the fans make or break it: tell everyone you've ever met! |
