Battle Commands
This is the menu you get at the very start of a battle. Following are short descriptions of each command that you have. You can also get descriptions of them in the Clock Shop in the Crossroads area (it's to the right of OsaP).
Battles in SM:AS operate like Final Fantasy 1. On entering battle, you choose commands for all the senshi in your party. Once each senshi has her command, a round begins, in which each senshi and youma carries out the commands given to them. The attack order is based on their stats. (The order you give commands is not necessarily the execution order!) The round is finished once all the youma and senshi have executed their commands. Then the Battle Command menu comes up again, and you input new commands for each senshi.
Do a physical attack. This is the default position for the battle menu cursor while the cursor type is set to Default. This can be changed in the Options Menu.
Attack using the senshi's magical powers.
Attack using a link attack. Be careful, because it draws energy from all the senshi involved in the attack.
Attack using all of the senshi in a powerful magic attack. Your formation and senshi affect which special attacks you can use. You must have 5 senshi in order to perform one of these.
Use an item. Some items can be used only in battle, some only outside battle.
Defend against an enemy attack. Damage done by an enemy is cut MORE than half while defending. (Enemy attacks that do 70+ damage will do only 1 to 4 damage while defending.)
Run from battle.
