This was a sad and very touching story of a real lady, Cai Jin Hua (played by Chan Yuk Lin), who lived during the Manchu Dynasty. She came from a poor family so she had to marry an intelligent and kind magistrate (Melvin Wong) who took her to Germany. There, she learned English and later on, used it to communicate with foreign military officers. Her life turned around when her husband died and she had to face a difficult time period as the country went through revolution.
