THREE-IN-ONE

When one thinks of the Trinity we conceptualize three in one; that is, there are three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. But there is only one God. This is our faith. This is what we believe.

Beginning on Wednesday, September the 16th from 7:00-8:30 p.m. Zion will commence a three-in-one event.

First, we will conduct a quasi mid-week worship opportunity, especially for those who find it difficult to worship with us on Sunday mornings. We will have an opening and closing hymn, a study of the Scriptures, prayer and benediction.

Secondly, included in this time-frame we will be studying a resource based on Luther’s Small Catechism. This will be an opportunity for the members of the congregation to review the six chief parts of the catechism. Sunday school staff who cannot attend the Bible class on Sunday mornings may appreciate this opportunity to study God’s Word with other adults. Each participant will have a study guide. You may purchase the resource, mark it up and keep it. Or, you may just use a book each week and return it at the end of each session.

Thirdly, these sessions will also be available for those inquiring into the Christian faith as Lutherans understand the Scriptures. The sessions will serve as the adult instruction classes. Upon completion of the sessions one can become a communicant member of Zion.

(The 7th and 8th graders will also meet at 7:00 with Ned Moerbe to study the Small Catechism in preparation for communicant membership. We encourage the parents of the confirmands to either sit in on the sessions of their son or daughter, or join the adults in the Three-In-One sessions.)

Yes, three-in-one; three objectives rolled into each session. A quasi-worship opportunity; a review of the six chief parts for members; and the opportunity for inquirers to learn of the basic doctrines of the Christian faith with the goal of joining us in ministry.

Join with us for worship, for study and/or for pre-membership classes.

Please join us in including this three-in-one effort in your prayers.

Pastor Nichols will be working with the Board of Elders and other leaders of the congregation.
