I Said
I said, yes...
         to being in your company,
in a virtual place.
         would you be with me?
I said, yes...
         to an intimate relationship,
that could outlast this.
Words, they fall from a lip.

I said, yes...
         to a meeting that's real.
You said, no. (there was someone else)
         what did you steal?

I said, yes...
         to another that would.
You said, why less?
Was I confused, is this a should?
I said, yes...
         then, I said, no.
Should I try again?
Oh...it was not so long ago!
There was hesitation and refrain
         I don't always know what's best?
I said, yes..

I said, yes...
two people could never learn so much.
She has a love none could test.
         Oh...what she did touch.
I said, yes...
         can we have a friendship?
For always...she said, yes.
Not just now, not just this trip.

I said okay, yes...
         let's do this.
I said, quietly, ah oh!...
         The fragile bubble burst.
this feels familiar?
         I denied it was.
Again, I said, yes, to her
         Oh...the things that she does!
and yes, so did you
         Was it a mending,
inside of this, it was who?
What was it you were sending?

I said, yes...
         am I a fool?
I said, who is this?
the tears fall in the pool
She said, a good friend, welcome back!
Wow! thank you, she sure is.
While I  thought...
         I just don't know anymore?
What's it all for?

I said, yes, to being by your side
         I shared all of me.
There were no surprises, nothing to hide.
Can I say that of you, can you see?
Then I lost you, nowhere to be found.
         The words could not express.
Not a phone ringing, not even a sound.
         Why did I say yes?

I said...
